"Smart
card" concept praised, criticized
Talk is underway about the possibility of introducing smart ID
cards for all U.S. residents. Its proponents claim that it will be
sophisticated and handy; privacy advocates, however, feel the card
would do little to separate the innocents from the security threat.

by SA promises big savings for students
If the introduction of new programs designed to help make student
life easier signals great times ahead, this is going to be a banner
year.
Blair promises to release
evidence indicting Iraq
In an effort to silence critics and garner support for a regime change,
British Prime Minister Tony Blair promised to publish a dossier of
evidence sometime in September demonstrating Iraq's alleged development
of weapons of mass destruction.
Food Service Committee
gives students a voice
Beginning in October students will have an opportunity to voice their
opinions about the food services offered on campus in a new way. While
in previous years the food service committee elected officers, this
year the committee will be more of an open forum, according to Josh
Showman, Student Association Vice President of Services.
New sim lab,
Student Center plans finalized
The summer has been a busy time for the ORU campus and Special Projects
Coordinator Ron Lee. Two of the major campus projects with which he
has been heavily involved are the updated Nursing Simulation Laboratory
and the Student Center building.
ORU grad takes
Miss Oklahoma title; vies for Miss America
One of ORU's own students, Miss Oklahoma 2002 Casey Preslar, headed
for Atlantic City, Sept. 6 with the goal of winning the annual Miss
America Pageant, which will be broadcast Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. on NBC.

A FACE of Multi-Ethnicity
The FACE of the Golden Eagle's volleyball team is the focus for the
2002-03 season.
A Day in Deidre's Domain
She rises at 5:45 a.m., splashes her face, talks to God and then at
6 a.m., Deidre Emerson starts her five mile run with her fellow teammates.
At 7 a.m., she heads up to the AC to begin her personal training.
There she does some strength and rehabilitation exercises.
Turning ORU's Aerobics
Center into a state-of-the-art fitness facility
A padded stretching area, soundproof aerobics area, televisions with
FM headset plug-ins. For those who enjoyed using the Aerobics Center
before, these and other changes will only add icing to the cake (or
maybe the applesauce on the cottage cheese). The AC started remodeling
in mid-June to improve its facility to meet member needs. |
