Self-Portrait
1661,
Oil on canvas, 114 x 94 cm,
English Heritage, Kenwood House, London
I like to start with a self-portrait of the master himself. Rembrandt is my favourite painter and this portrait shows why.
He was also a great etcher.

This is by Martin Johnson Heade, 1871, which is appealing to me for its dream-like qualities, I also like the dark colors.
Atala at the grave by Anne-Louis Girodet de Roucy-Trioson (1767-1824).
The sad scene struck me. It is carefully painted and it shows an intimate tragedy.

Portrait of Mona Lisa (1479-1528), also known as La Gioconda, the wife of Francesco del Giocondo; 1503-06 (150 Kb); Oil on wood, 77 x 53 cm (30 x 20 7/8 in); Musee du Louvre, Paris.
Probably the most famous painting in the world by Leonardo da Vinci. A monumental masterpiece.
When I see this painting and after I have read some comments I would like to give my view on her. To me I like her more because she is painted by Da Vinci. He carried it always with him means that it is a painting bearing of love. Every stroke of this painting touches our spiritual feelings. Here we are in the heart of the master who likes a landscape as a decor for his own Fairy. Her smile is as not so much her own smile but the moment of the whole painter's view on life itself. It is an understanding smile but also as I like to put it 'a hidden smile', a smile that not only suggest but know that there is much more behind than viewers can see.
Leo was a genius, he also composed music. Listen to him.
