Chapter 2:
Delia glanced around the room and her gaze finally landed on Celine, who had a sheepish and very guilty look on her face. Mrs. Braden and Nadia were also looking pointedly at Delia's best friend. "Before I get into all the details, there is a boy severely injured outside." Mrs. Braden and Delia gasped, and ran outside to Taylor's aid. Isaac had now finished his telephone calls and was staring blankly at the wall. "I called my parents and they should be arriving soon, as should an ambulance." Celine wasn't sure whether he was talking to her or nobody, but she sensed his troubled emotions and patted him lightly on the back. "It'll be okay, Isaac."
"Call me Ike," he said, leaving Celine standing alone in the living room, while he went out to check on his younger brother. 'I can't believe that Hanson has lived down the street from me all my life and I've never gotten a chance to know them', Celine thought. Delia walked in a few minutes later, to say, "Lina, we're going to the hospital with the Hanson's to make sure Taylor is alright. I can't believe you hit a celebrity in the head with a flashlight!" Shaking her head, she dragged Celine out the door and into the Hanson's white van which was parked in the driveway.
Celine and Delia felt slightly out of place sitting in a famous family's van, but they tried hard not to show it. "So, what are your names?" Mrs. Hanson asked, trying to make small talk.
"I'm Delia, and this is Celine," Delia introduced, because Celine was a bit shy around strangers.
"What pretty names!" Mrs. Hanson exclaimed. "Are you two sisters?"
"No, Ma'am. We're best friends," Delia exclaimed, amused by the thought that anybody would mistake them for sisters.
"Oh. Please, call me Diana," Mrs. Hanson instructed. Delia and Celine just smiled and nodded. They were aware of other passengers in the van. There were two little girls sitting in the back seat, whispering frantically, and a boy that appeared to be four or younger sitting in a car seat. Isaac and Zac had gone in the ambulance with Taylor to make sure he was alright, as did Mr. Hanson. Diana must have sensed the uncomfortable air between them, because she said, "Oh, I forgot to introduce you two to my other children. This is little Mackenzie, and back there are Jessica and Avery. Say hello to Delia and Celine!"
A chorus of timid hello's were heard as they pulled into the hospital parking lot. They all tumbled out of the vehicle and rushed into the building. They soon spotted Isaac and Zac sitting in the lobby, reading various magazines. Delia and Celine ventured over towards them, while Mrs. Hanson and her younger children went to get the low-down on Taylor. "I'm so sorry I caused all of this," Celine apologized earnestly.
"Oh, it's no big deal, really. Taylor came to while we were in the ambulance, and now the doctor's just need to check him over for any serious damage. I'm sure he'll be fine," Ike spoke confidently, but thought otherwise.
"I love you man!" Zac rushed over to Celine and embraced her, catching her slightly off guard.
"Well, Zac, I like you too, but, you know…" she trailed off, chuckling. She immediately shut up when a young-looking nurse approached them. Isaac looked at her through narrowly slit eyes. "Is Taylor okay?"
