November's Question

What do you think happened to Lou and Kid after the season finale of "Till Death Do Us Part"? For example: how did the war affect them, do you think they moved to another town, did Kid keep his job at the Pony Express until it ended? So on and so forth. :)

I think Kid and Lou stayed with the pony express until it ended. After that they moved to Virginia and Kid fought in the war. (He was so loyal to Virginia in the series that I can't imagine how he could make any other choice.) Of course he survived the war and he and Lou had some little kids (hehehe). I'm not sure if they stayed in Virginia or moved back to the west, but one thing I know for sure is: they lived happily ever after!

I think Kid and Lou would definitely stay with the express until it ended or until their express family completely disbanded. Although Kid had strong feelings for Virginia, remember what he said. Everything important about Virginia to Kid was memories he made there. After he married Lou, he had new memories to make. I don't know whether Kid and Lou would return there, but I don't see Kid getting involved in the war. Besides, Louise would probably go back to being Lou and join him if he did! Trivia ?- Virginia split into two states because of the civil war. One wanted to side with the south, the other didn't. Why? Part of Virginia didn't rely as heavily on slavery as the other. The strong slave holding section was getting more representation in the state, so the other section spilt. (This is from memory, but I'm really into the civil war;)

I think that Kid would fight in the war (south). And of course, survive it. I'm not sure if they would have kids... But they would definitly be back in the west!

Virginia did split into two in the year 1863, and what is now West Virginia became Pro Union. Maybe that's the area Kid grew up in, and therefore wouldn't have to fight for the south. Any case, I don't believe Kid would have dared enter the war. Lou wasn't exactly the type to stand behind her man, but rather beside her man. Like she said "Promise you'll never ride off without me. If there's trouble, I want to face it with you". She was dead serious. Kid might feel a little tortured staying out of the war, but at least he'd know Lou was safe. After the war, I see them working with horses (a ranch maybe?). Lots of children cause Kid strikes me as the type who'd want a whole bunch. Hopefully, their life would be less chaotic after the war ended, and they'd have a happy family life.

I think that Kid and Lou remained in the West. I believe that he gave up his home to make a new one with his wife. I think that they started a ranch and lived there with Lou's brother and sister. They started a family and eventually Kid became the marshall of their town. He never faught in the war as did his friends. He didn't feel that he could face them as their enemy when they were all friends and family. I think they lived to be an old couple with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

I think that initially, Kid and Lou stayed out West because they were building a life together and a family ;) But I think as the War went on and as the need of soldiers for the South grew, Kid went back to Virginia to defend his home state. After the War was over, I think Kid went back out West to be with Lou and their children.

I agree with most of the above answers in that I don't think Kid would have left Lou to go and fight in the war. Although he might have felt that he should at first (as seen in that scene in Initiations), I think that after his marriage he would have seen it differently. I know that the War was about states' rights as opposed to slavery but I don't see Kid as willing to fight for the side that wanted to continue with slavery. Besides, he wouldn't have wanted to fight against his "family." As for the future, I am certain that the two of them had a large family and lived happily every after.

I imagine that after Lou and Kid were married they stayed with the Pony Express until it ended. They stayed with their family/friends that were left and eventually got a place of their own outside of Rock Creek. Kid, being the loving man and devoted husband that he was to Lou, didn't move them to Virginia so he could fight in the war. Instead, he put his past with Virginia behind him and concentrated on starting a future with his wife/best friend. Making sure that no harm would come to them. Soon they started a family of their own and had a wonderful life together. They would get in touch with their family and friends from the Pony Express every now and then and would also get surprise visits from them. They lived happily ever after!

This is a question that I've wrestled with for a few years now! I truly believe that Kid would have made Lou his priority in life, so I'm not sure that he would have faught in the war. Because he promised to never ride on without her again.

I was watching "Till Death Do Us Part" and one of the lines caught my attention......one that I hadn't paid attention to until now. Kid is angry with Jimmy because he wouldn't trust him with that coded message that Rosemary had. He says to Jimmy "She's telling you to keep this from me because I'm from the South!" And here's the key statement, he goes on to say, "I think you should know by now where my loyalties are." If you think back over the shows runnings, he was always doing work for the North (esp in "Gathering Clouds"). I could see him doing some spying or scouting, but I don't actually see him fighting. Oh well, I don't know!!!! Ahh! :) I do, however, see them as being the happiest couple I've ever known. (Yeah, so I'm biased. ;) Who knows, maybe they came out to the West Coast and settled in Oregon. LOL! ;);)

Okay, I think I'll go out on a limb here. I think Kid would have fought for Virginia. He was too in love with the land he was born on to turn his back on Her. I'm sure he and Lou would have battled it out, but Lou would have understood that Kid could never live with himself if he didn't defend the soil he was honor bound to fight for. And Kid would have been fighting for only the land, certainly not slavery. The whole series dealt with Kid's pride in his Southern Heritage, and I don't see him as the kind of person who would compromise that honor, because he would have seen it as a compromise to his own heart, and a deprival of his real self to Lou. After those long and treacherous years of destruction and death, I don't believe Kid could have stayed in a Virginia so ravaged by war and plauged by Reconstruction, so I believe he and Lou would have ridden back West, and raised fine horses...and perhaps some young-uns too! ;)

I think that Kid and Lou would see the Express all the way through to the end. That is just the kind of person Kid was, he commited to something and he saw it through. Lou was the same way, especially concerning her friends, which had become her family. After the Express ended, I think Kid would have entertained the idea of going to fight for the land of his birth but then decided against it. Especially when he realized the kind of danger he would be Lou into when she refused to idly sit by and let him go fight in the war. After that decision was made I think they would settle around Rock Creek maybe go a bit further West to try and avoid the war. After all they already lost one good friend to the war. And of course, Kid and Lou would have children, at least three, and raise horses. I like the idea of them on a ranch.
