There have been some terrific group discussions that have gone around through the various pages, so we'd like to have one right here too! Periodically we will be asking different questions, and we'd love for you to send us in your feedback so that we can post it under the question. The new questions will rotate monthly, but the previous questions will also stay up. Thanks for your participation! :):)
We all know that Lou was ahead of her time in the 1860's. What movements do you think she was involved in later in life? Women's rights? Suffrage? Etc? Also... If Lou were living in the 1990's instead of the 1890's, what kind of life do you think she'd be living?
Wow! This is a great question. I think Lou would have definitely been
involved in things like Suffrage and Women's Rights. And even though she
would have been an old, old lady when women were first allowed to vote in a
Presidential election, she was there, ready to cast her vote! And Kid
supported her all the way! She was also a great wife and mother too; I think
she would be able to balance the tradition of her day with her belief that
women should have equality. Even though the Civil Rights era happened long
after her time, I believe she probably would have been involved in that too.
If Lou lived today, we would probably see her in some kind of political job.
Maybe working for human rights or women's rights in other countries (of
course, since Lou's my hero, and that is what I want to do, I'd like to think
that's what she'd be doing too:). Or maybe she would be a federal marshal or
something like that!
