Spike & Rambo

Check out when my dogs ate too much food!

If A Dog Were Your Teacher

These are the family dogs. They are Minature Pinchers. The are treated so much like human it is kinda funny. Spike is the black one and he is 4 years old. Rambo is the red one and he is 3 1/2. They are so enjoyable but the do tend to bark too much.

Spike is more the independent dog. If he gets the chance to run out the front door he will and he will be gone. So we have to be careful with the doors. Rambo on the other hand would just go to another door to try to get in. He wouldn't leave for nothing...he needs his mommy.

Rambo does have a bit of an attitude problem. I can't say for sure when it all came about. Kinda gradually. But there was an incident when the dogs use to share a cage...they got into a bloody dog fight. That is when we went out and bought another cage.

They both get to go swimming in our pool during the hot summer days. They act like they don't like it but I think they enoy it. At least it cools the off for a bit, so they are not panting up a storm.

Spike's escapade...

A while back Spike's eye began to swell, underneath that is. I applied warm compresses to it and it seemed to help. But as the evening went on the swelling became worse. It even began swelling the side of his mouth.

Well first thing this a.m. I took him the "DOGGIE DOC" (in other words the vet). Not sure of why his face and eye is swelling. Could be two reasons. One he could of got stung by something or touched something and is having a allergic reaction.

Or he could have an absessed tooth. OUCH huh? The only way we will know if it is an absessed tooth is if once the swelling goes away from a cortazone shot, and it reoccurs. He also has been put on an antibotic just incase if it is an infection.

He is a little tired today because of the shot. But he seems to be taking it as a champ.

I did take a picture of him. (hehehehe) So whenever I get the chance to get it developed I will add it to the site.

Oh by the way, Spike and Rambo say thank you for taking the time out to read about all of our mishaps. We love ya for it!!! It is a dog eat dog world out there so be carful.

Rambo's escapade...

What can I say but my dogs love table food. And a while back we had an experience like no other before. Here is how it began. Well I was making 3 lbs of meatballs for the wonderful "family" spagehitti we all make. Kaitlyn was watching me make the meatballs on a step stool.

I had just finished rolling all the meatballs. They were left in a BIG bowl on the cupboard as Kaitlyn and I went outside for a short minute to say goodbye to dad since he was off to work.

Nicole was visiting me this week and ran oustide and said that Rambo just ate the meatballs. I came running back in and to my surprise he sure did. I estimated at this time that he ate about a pound of RAW meatballs.

I called the vet immediately to see if I should make him vomit. In dogs you have to give them Hydrogen Peroxide to make them vomit. They told me NO don't do it. He will throw up on his own and will have some diarehha. Like I wanted to deal with all of that.

Well over the next 30 minutes. The poor dog swelled up like a meatball. LOL And was totally helpless. It was like eating Thanksgiving dinner and we all sit around stuffed to our gills.

At this time I decided to call the vet back. But now they wer closed. So I called the two emergency clinics that were on their answering machine. Both places adviced me to make him vomit. They do not know why my vet said no on that matter. They said that Rambo would end up with some bad intestional problems if I did not make him vomit.

So off I went to get the Hydrogen Peroxide. This was an experience. I had to use this once before when I had found a chewed up box of Decon Mice Posioning in my back yard. So I knew this was not going to be fun.

I proceeded with giving Rambo a teaspoon of Peroxide. Waited 15 minutes and no vomiting. So I had to give him another teaspoon. And instantly now he started to vomit. Poor dog. I hate throwing up so I know how he felt. But then again he put himself in this mess. LOL

Needless to say he ended up vomiting 20 meatballs. (Which is a pound). He never chewed them up. He just swallowed them when he climbed on the counter with the step stool that was there.

Well as of today he is fine. No reaction to the RAW meat. But I do beleive that if I did not make him vomit I would of had a huge vet bill at my side. Maybe that is why the vet did not want me to make him vomit. Ya never know.

But now we call Rambo, The Meatball Dog!!!!!
