GERMAN TOYS
I divide my German toys up as follows: chronologically by year, then alphabetically by series, then numerically by their six-digit number within the series. I have just reorganised this sub-section so it’s much easier to navigate. The translations I give are my own, so please don't consider them official English names for the set! In any case, there is room for improvement in a few of them. Because I am a professional translator, I thought I'd have a bit of fun translating the German names of series and toys into English. Any suggestions for improvement to the translations, or corrections, are more than welcome. Just send an e-mail! If you want to try to find out the meanings of German words for yourself, there are several excellent online resources, including Wordreference.com (basically the Collins dictionary online), Leo (along with Wordreference.com, this is great for general and some specialist terminology), Laixicon (very handy for more technical terminology such as the precise translation of “Muldenwagen” - you have to pay for it these days, but you do get three free searches) and Eurodicautom (again, quite good for more technical stuff). NB: If a toy number has an asterisk (*) next to it, I still need the paper for the toy.
A note on acknowledgments: If I link to someone’s Web site or e-mail address, it means they’re still active in Kinder Surprise trading (as far as I know), and I would be willing to deal with them again. Someone whose name is not linked but is in bold is a person who is no longer actively trading (as far as I can tell), but with whom I would be willing to deal again or recommend to others should they decide to resume trading. Finally, someone whose name is neither linked nor in bold is a person, persons or business with whom I may have traded in the past, but for one reason or another would not do so again in the future. Nor would I recommend that person, persons or business to others, notwithstanding my acknowledgment of them as a source for one or more Kinder Surprise toys on this page.
For toys issued in Germany from the 2004/05 season onwards, please refer to the MPG Toys sub-section.
