610 066 – Steinadler – der Himmelstürmer (Golden Eagle – Striker From the Skies). Has a dark brown body and beige wings that are spread out. The paper includes some information about this rather magnificent bird of prey. Its wingspan can be up to 2.2 metres and it tends to cover an area of up to 50 square kilometres. 610 072 – Gämsen gehen auf Nummer Sicher (Chamois Find Safety in Numbers). Brown. The paper includes some information about this creature. Chamois stay in herds, live 1,000-2,500 feet above sea level and are great climbers. A member of the herd often scouts ahead for danger. Thanks to Ulrike Degen for this one. 610 080 – Der Steinbock will hoch hinaus (The Ibex Wants to Climb High). Light brown. According to the info on the paper, ibexes can climb as high as 3,500 feet! 610 086 – Steinadler (Golden Eagle). Has a reddish brown body and closed beige wings. Golden eagles live in nests called eyries, which can be 2 m in diameter and up to 1 m high, according to the info on the paper. Thanks to Ulrike Degen for this one. 610 181 – Wer pfeifft denn da? Alpenmurmeltier (Who’s that whistling? Alpine Marmot). The paper includes some information about this creature. 610 491 – Ape rolling on dumbbells that say “16 TONS”. Thanks to Kay Bundo for this one. A note on the translation: “Tierisch fit” literally means “Really fit”, but there’s a pun going on in the German, as “Tier” means “animal”, and “tierisch” can also mean “bestial”. To keep the pun in English, I’ve adopted a different phrase using “animal”. The idea is loosely that Mr Bongo is working out to attract the ladies. Toy Type: Rolling Toy: Ape. TOLLKÜHNE FLIEGER IN HEISSEN KISTEN (DARING FLYERS IN HOT CRATES – 3 OF 4)

 

610 617* – Percy und sein ‘Puter-Scooter”, bird in a cross between an aeroplane and a skateboard. The cockpit is a pot! The wings are a couple of books and the tail is attached to a meat cleaver! One of the strangest-looking vehicles I’ve ever seen, but all the toys in this set are like that – quite clever, actually. The pot/cockpit is matt silver/grey, by the way. 610 464 – Jack, der “Ventilator-Skater”, duck in a vehicle that has a skateboard base, with a brush at the rear (this is light brown), shovels sticking out the sides (these are matt grey) and an engine with propeller at the front! 610 468* – Betty, die “Chicken-Wing Queen”, chicken in a sort of aeroplane. The body of the plane (a box of some sort) is light brown. Its wings are dark brown.
