Levin Mammoth Site
Work is progressing very slow on one of the ribs. The bones here are in very good condition, and some don't even require reinforcement before removal. January 15, 2000.
Talk about long, large bones, here's one. This is the scapula (shoulder blade). Only one was found at the site. The other one might be here, but where? April 8, 2000.
The scapula is ready for removal. This was a monumental task, and involved the help of friends. April 12, 2000.
About the same view as the view above, but I've included my hammer for scale. The socket at the right end of the scapula is where the upper leg bone would have fastened. April 12, 2000.
