Located in the mountains, high above the heat of Chiang Mai, this Black Lahu village is truly one of a kind.
Genuine farmers and truly friendly people, the village consists mainly of bamboo houses as accommodation, and real-life eating over an inside fire.
For a person desiring a real experience in Thailand, this is a must.
No pamphlets or brochures or travel agents - just an experience, and
the way to find it.
The Way to find it
Leave Chiang Mai on a rented motorbike ( $3 per day), and head away from the city of Chiang Mai, and travel towards Chiang Rai, on highway 118.
Go 65 km on a beautifully new paved road, through the mountains and valleys. Look for kilometre marker 65. Then in 100 yards look on the right for a bridge crossing a stream, and a sign indicating Trekker House.
Follow the dirt road, 11 kms passing the tourist accommodation of Trekker House, and continue to the Lahu village of Hoi Nam Rin. Ask any Lahu for Billy, and enjoy as you wish.
True adventure with people who are not paid everyday to take people
on journeys.
All the relaxing or all the exploring - have it your own way.
See you soon
Billy
P.S. Bring cheese and bread and your own wine.
