WELCOME

Thanks for visiting the kids kitchen recipes and tips. There are links at the bottom for more Kids in the Kitchen things.

Parental Supervision is a MUST

when kids are in the kitchen.

Be sure they know whats HOT and

SHARP, and when to ask for help!

I have 3 very finicky eaters. And it is hard to get my 5 and 3 year olds

to eat anything. I truelly believe the Breadfast is definately a

DAY BOOSTER. So I always try to keep meal exciting and let

them do as much to prepare as possible.

We use the toast toppings alot... They are each in their own container

and I let them mix and match the ingredients themselves.

LUNCH

Lunch can be such a variety of things... Just be sure the child has the final decision.

As long as there is a variety is available in each 'food group' they can come up

with a very nutritiuos lunch, they will feel proud to have had a part in, therefore

they will want to eat.

Try These:

PB & J w/ vegie slices

Ham & Cheese w/ fruit cup

Yogurt w/ cheese cubes and toast

Fruit / Cheese Kabob w/ crackers

Extra

When serving sandwiches, use cookie cutters

to cut them into shapes.

Sandwich Rolls

Cut the crust off of one piece of bread

Apply your childs favorite (jelly, PB, a meat, cheese, etc...)

Simply roll the bread into a log shape.

NOTE:

With meats... try to add a piece of cheese on the top of the meat,

roll and hold close with a toothpick and melt the cheese, remove the

toothpick and let cool thoroughly then serve with their choice of sides.

DINNER

I feel funny about letting the girls help out too much with the cooking. But

the preparation seems to be what works in our house! I have 3 girls, aged 6, 5 and 3,

to have all 3 in the kitchen at one time 'helping', was impossible! So here is what we

do: Each girl has 1 night a week when they have 'kitchen duty'. They plan the

meal, help with preparing the food, I cook, they set the table, clean the table, and

do the dishes!

Here are a few things they do to help prepare the food:

Mix and Stir sauces, and saute`s

Shake salads

Pour in ingedients

Place bread on the pan for baking (bisquits, etc...)

Toast Bread

Wash Vegies

DESSERT

Desserts are so much fun, and can be so simple. On the

night they get to prepare dinner, of course, dessert is one part

they all LOVE.

Here are a few things we use:

Fruit Cup Swirls

Sliced, balled, squared, chopped fruits

Cool whip

Sundae / Soda Glass

Let the children spoon cool whip into the bottom

of their glass, then add a fruit mixture of their

choice, another layer of cool whip, then more fruit

and so on until the cup is full. Top with the

cool whip, sprinkle on some cinnamon or candie

sprinkles and a cherry.

Flavored Yogurts

1 8 oz pkg of plain yogurt

Chopped fruits

Fruit syrup or pie filling

Mix all ingredients together, chill,

and serve.

Jellos

Mix and prepare the jello according to the package

instructions. When the jello thickens, but before

it is completely set, drop in fruit. Or...

have you ever seen those medicine syringes?

Fill the platice up with cool whip and insert into

the jello. Since the jello is still so soft, this will create

a pocket in which the cool whip will set with the

jello.

Pudding Swirls

Using instant pudding prepare by the box instructions.

Then spoon some pudding into a sundae dish. Follow the

same action with cool whip, layering as you alternate

the two. Top with the cool whip, sprinkles, and a cherry.

No - Bake Layer Cake

Fruit pieces (small)

Pound / Angelfood Cake

Cool Whip &/or Pudding

Slice the pound cake long ways

(from top to bottom or bottom to top - whichever )

Spread on Pudding, Cool Whip or both, then put

on fruit and slice. Top with more cool whip and

of course, don't forget the cherry on top.
