The card game in Final Fantasy 8 has many confusing rules, here is my attempt to explain some of them:

Open: You can see the other players cards

Same: If your card has the same facing numbers of at least two cards next to it

Plus: If your card has facing numbers with two other cards that add up to equal the same number

Elemental: If your card's element matches the one on the board all of it's numbers go up one, if not all of his numbers go down one

Trade Rules

One: The winner gets one card

Diff: The winner gets the difference in cards (example: 6 to 4 you get 2 cards)

All: The winner gets all the cards
