A Hunting We Will Go
![](timphoto2.JPG)
On this page, we will discuss some of the basic tips for hunting ghosts.
Two major things that you must always remember when hunting ghosts-
1) Always Ask Permission.
2) Always Be Careful.
The last thing you want to happen is to end up in jail on trespassing charges. Just about any place you will want to explore is owned by someone. Do your research, find out who owns the property, and then just ask them. Some people may say no, but some may say yes also. One thing that is prevalent in this field is, "Try, try again."

What To Take
- Pen & Paper- document everything. If you're trying to get an EVP, be sure to write down every little noise anyone makes so that it won't be thought of as an EVP on the tape.
- Cell Phone- always good for emergencies
- Tape Recorder- preferably with an external mic. A micro-cassette recorder works just as well as a larger one. And if you have an external mic, you won't have added noise on your tape when looking for EVPs.
- Video Camera- not only is it good to try to catch something paranormal with, but it also makes for a fun movie later on
- Snacks- if you plan on being out for a while, you don't want hunger distracting you. Be sure to take some snacks and some drinks in case anyone wants anything as the night goes on.
- Photo ID- if you get stopped by the cops, you want to be able to identify yourself
- Witness Papers & Release Forms- if you're doing an investigation at someone's house, you want to get all the info you can about the who/what/when/where of the happenings, and you also want to be certain to aquire the property owner's permission to release or withhold the findings of your investigation. Sometimes people opt for release of findings but you are asked to withhold property addresses, omit identifying structures associated with the property or it's owners and the names of the property owners.
- Flashlight- don't want to get caught in the dark
- Extra Batteries- a lot of batteries go dead when trying to investigate the paranormal, so be prepared for that
- 35mm or Digital Camera- this is one of the easiest ways to get evidence. Digitals tend to lend themselves to greater or lesser extents to the infra-red spectrum and you can see your results instantly.
- Extra Memory/Disks/Film- you don't want to run out of pictures. Whether your camera takes a memory stick, floppy disks, or film, be sure you have enough room to take as many pics as you will want to take.
- EMF Detector- (electromagnetic field detector) This device can be of assistance in determining or substantiating presence of a spirit as increased EM readings often indicate the presence of something other than your team.
Some Places To Start
- Cemetery- you can get pics at your local cemetary anytime during the day. Though you may not be as sucessful at gather evidence during the daylight hours, it can be done. If you wish to search at night, then gain permission first.
- Friends and Family- many of us know those that claim to have had experiences with the paranormal, but if you're one that doesn't ask anyway... you may be surprised.
- Local Legends- if you know of a local legend, then check it out. Sometimes they're folklore and sometimes they're not. At any rate, it's a good place to start!
