Road Rules Islands Episodes

Episode 401: The Road Rulers meet up for the first time. We meet JAKE, a curly-haired 18-year-old from Philly, VINCE, a darkly handsome and intense 20-year-old from Florida, KALLE, a 19-year-old blond bombshell from Colorado, ERIKA, who is 22, sophisticated, and from San Diego, and OSCAR, 19 and from Puerto Rico. Their first mission: play paintball for dollars at Mare Naval Base Island near San Francisco. They play against old Road Rulers, and win only one measly game for $400. It's gonna be lean times ahead...

Behind the Scenes 401: In an attempt to "frighten" the old Road Rulers during the paintball game, Jake tossed a few unkind words in Effie's direction, making her cry. After the games, Effie sprayed paint all over the Winnie in revenge.

Episode 402: The gang heads to Mare Island and the Coast Guard Naval Base. They board a large ship and are told they need to practice and execute a search and rescue mission. Everybody gets seasick as they learn how to use the equipment. Ugghh! At the end of the day, Jake insists he's leaving the boat, but pressure from Kalle convinces him to stay. The next day, the ship receives a MAYDAY call from a small boat that's on fire and sinking. The Roadies get ready for action...

Behind the Scenes 402: Seems Jake was assigned to the engine room for the better part of the first day. Jake apparently rubbed his engine room mentor the wrong way, and ended up calling this man of the sea "an ignorant farm boy." The man then offered to break a few of Jake's bones. During the second evening on the Coast Guard cutter, Erika mentioned they could go visit her mom -- she lives an hour away. Oscar's face brightened: "Hey your mom could cook for us!" Erika's face fell, and she proceeded to give him a lecture about pass sexist attitudes.

Episode 403: The kids succeed in saving the boater and putting out the fire -- ah, it's all in a day's work. When they get back to the Winnie, however, they find the cow's skull and horns stolen from the front grill. Jake and Oscar decide to steal the Coast Guard flag in retribution, and only after much bad feeling between Oscar and Erika do they return it. They head to Erika's mom's place for din-din, and later that night we have our first physical contact between Jake and Kalle (he puts his arm around her). They then head to Balboa Island, Erika and Oscar fighting the whole way.

Behind the Scenes 403: Their last day in San Francisco, Jake and Kalle each made twenty bucks working for a company called Bobono Casting. They were casting extras for the latest Disney extravaganza, Flubber.

Episode 404: At Balboa Island, our heroes have to perform in a stand-up comedy amateur night. Money to the winners! They break into teams, but Oscar gets left in the cold. Jake and Oscar have a heart to heart later, and all is better as he joins Jake and Kalle's team. Erika and Vince get a great response to their shtick at the comedy club, and get the second place prize of $100. Yay, they can eat now!

Behind the Scenes 404: Erika got a surprise visit from her hunky boyfriend. Lots of lovin'. And Oscar and Kalle were huddled together over the laptop computer, attempting to locate a map of California. Kalle was entering information, but Oscar wanted to take over, so he prodded her, "come on baby." Kalle snapped, "don't call me baby!" In other news, the Ries met a a guy named John who took them out to dinner and then "back to his place." Good thing he was a "nice guy."

Episode 405: The guys fly to Miami to pick up their new home on wheels. Next, wing-walking! Oscar and Kalle are chosen to train for this death-defying activity, but Kalle ends up winning the spot. The others folks do loops and rolls in a snazzy red plane -- not too shabby either. Kalle and Jake lie real close while sleeping on the Winnie's roof that night. Jake has a crush on her, boy, and while Kalle knows it, she isn't sure how to handle it because of her boyfriend back home.
