By far my
most amazing trip to date was to Canada in 1997. I based myself in Vancouver
with my cousin and her family, who were living there at the time. Vancouver
is truly beautiful and I adored the place. It was wonderful just wandering
around the streets looking at all the beautiful houses. I saw Mr Magoo
being filmed down on a jetty one day, which was great fun to watch. I really
enjoyed shopping in Vancouver too, and if you1re short and live in Australia,
go over there to buy your clothes! They have huge petites ranges, and if
I hadn1t been so worried about coming home with overweight luggage, I would
have bought a lot more than I did.
The highlight of my trip
was a two week tour I took through the Rocky Mountains (pictured here).
It is the most magnificent, fantastically beautiful place I have ever been
to. While videotaping the mountain ranges from the coach, I continually
chided myself for recording too much, but every mountain range that came
into sight was so spectacular that it couldn1t be left behind! Banff was
my favourite place (pictured here). Ringed by mountains on all sides, its
quaint and gorgeous shops and houses I found very appealing. Those of you
who dislike commercialism may not be as rapt as I was, however.
The colour of the water
is incredible. Caused by particles from melting glaciers, it is exactly
the same colour in reality as it is in these photos (pictured here and
here). The amazing and spectacular views are astounding. I was lucky enough
to catch this cloud down over the Athabasca Glacier when I was in Jasper
National Park.
I also visited Butchart
Gardens during my time on Vancouver Island. Anyone who loves gardens should
pay a visit there. The flowers were bright and lovely, and there were many
calm, serene pools, (pictured here). It was a peaceful place.
This is one of my favourite
photos from my time in Canada. (pictured here) I took this a Lynn Canyon,
in Vancouver, and no, it1s not a path into the tree tops, even though it
looks like it. Lynn Canyon was a lovely place, and I preferred that suspension
bridge to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, probably because there were less
people there.
If you1re a photographer,
Canada is the place to go. Next time I hope to do the Yukon and Alaska.
