Karen's Dear Jane Row L
L-1 Widow's Pane Paper pieced in two large inner units and two narrow outer units then machine pieced the units.
22 Pieces. |
L-2 Stephanie's Snowflake Slight redraft -- eliminated lines at the end of thin rectangles to make both ends pointed. (Same as Jane's) Paper pieced in units and machine pieced the units.
|
L-3 Reflections Abound Paper pieced in one center unit then into four corner units. Machine pieced the units.
|
L-4 St. George's Cross Paper pieced into units then machine pieced the units.
|
L-5 Chattanooga Charlie Paper pieced in units then machine pieced the units.
22 Pieces. |
L-6 Maze of Madness I thought this one needed the least distracting fabric possible or those itty bitty lines would get lost. Paper pieced in units then machine pieced the units.
47 Pieces. |
L-7 Town Square Paper pieced in units then machine pieced the units. This one gave me a good opportunity to use that really wild print (Old Sturbridge Village) without getting too overwhelming.
17 Pieces. |
L-8 Box Kite Paper pieced in units then machine pieced the units.
|
L-9 Walter's Place Paper pieced in units then machine pieced the units. Pressing seams open as you sew units together on this one helps keep those triangle tips from getting distorted.
|
L-10 Nan's Naiad Redrafted block to eliminate applique and unnecessary seams/pieces. I did this one back when I was hand piecing so it's all hand pieced. 41 Pieces. |
L-11 Caitlin's Rose Redrafted to look like Jane's. Hand pieced. 21 Pieces. |
L-12 Sally's Pride Hand pieced. I did the small corner triangles by appliqueing with freezer paper underneath (I just left it in there) then "cheated" by using gluestick and fray check where needed. Now that I've had more experience, though, I think a simple reverse applique would have been a lot less trouble. 27 Pieces. |
L-13 Harvest Moon Eliminated the bottom curved line in background area that connects to the pie shapes. Hand pieced. 10 Pieces. |
