Fire Apparatus - Ladders |
---|---|
Welcome to page two of the ladder section of my site. If you are looking for Philadelphia ladders go to the fire homepage and click on the new icon for Philly FD. Louisiana apparatus has its own pages as well. Just click the "Back" button to return to the previous ladder page or "Back to Fire Apparatus" for the beginning of the fire pages. There are a lot of image thumbnails that load pretty quick, but take a moment to read the text as they load. Last updated December 10, 2002 |

Just down the road from Dover is the small community of Hartley, Delaware. This is a nice Pierce ladder. |
Ladder 1 is the newest piece for the Irmo (South Carolina) Fire Department, replacing Tower 17 which is up for sale. Ladder 1 is a 2001 Supthan with an unusual 70' ladder. Nice improvement for the set they have at Station 17. |
Tower 17 is a 1982 Grummen tower assigned to station 17 in Irmo, South Carolina until it is sold. The tower appears to be very well kept. |
The Joanna, South Carolina fire department located along US-76 northwest of Columbia is the owner of this Mack ladder, formerly from the New York (City) Fire Department (FDNY). The ladder even has mention as being a former engine from the "Vipers" station, a Queens (NY) FDNY ladder company. |

Kent Island is located on a tiny island between the Maryland Eastern Shore and the city of Annapolis, Maryland. Comprised of yacht harbors and condos, this 1979 Pierce Arrow with a 85' ladder was refurbed in 1988 and looks new. I did a double take when they told me it was a 79. |
This bright orange with blue stripe Mack CF belongs to the Lafayette Fire Company in Lancaster county PA. Its a 1986 Mack/LTI with a 75' ladder. |
Limerick Fire Company in PA painted their equipment the color you might imagine for an Irish name like Limerick, green. This is their pride and joy, a 2001 E-One with a 100' ladder. |
Marcus Hook, PA is located south of Philadelphia and is home to a couple of refineries. E-One is the engine of choice for their fire department. This is a 1999 E-One with a 75' ladder. If you go to my train pages and Pennsylvania, you will notice I have several shots of trains from Marcus Hook. |
Tower 1 is stationed in Marion, NC and is a 1969 Sutphen with a 85' platform. The city of Marion is situated where the Clinchfield (CSXRR) and the Southern (NS) cross. For you railroad buffs out there both railroads have what they call "Loops" in the area where the trains loop back and forth out of the nearby mountains. |
Volunteer Hose Company's 1992 75' Pierce Lance seen here in front of their new station in Middletown, Delaware. |

The city of Milton, Delaware just recently celebrated their 100th anniversary. This is their 1993 Quality with an AI 75' ladder seen here in Milton, DE. |
Driven all the way from Pennsyvania for a fire convention in Metairie, this Metz 100' aerial on a HME chassie is on display in Metairie, LA on April 29, 2000. Note the German and American flags on the side of the crew compartment since Metz is German built. |
Probably one of the first E-One's, the emblem even had Emergency One spelled out. This 1981 E-One belongs to Station 83, Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company and is a 50' Squrt. |
This 1992 Seagrave squrt is assigned to Station 21 at Mill Creek Fire Company in Marshallton, DE just outside Wilmington. I love the dragon emblem in the cross. |

Murrell's Inlet-Garden City, SC is located on the Atlantic Ocean and south of Myrtle Beach, SC. This 1987 Supthan with a 100'+ ladder is assigned to the ocean front station in Garden City and is used to protect the highrise condos in the area similar to one pictured in the background. |
The newest ladder with Murrell's Inlet-Garden City (SC) fire department is this 2001 E-One with a 75' ladder. This engine is assigned to the Murrell's Inlet station. |
To think that Myrtle Beach (SC) fire department has painted over the beautiful yellow in favor of red. Now plans are to lease equipment from one supplier eliminating all the various pieces of equipment used by the department. This is a 1985 E-One/LTI 100' ladder assigned to station on the north end of Myrtle Beach, SC. |
A beautiful 1999 American LaFrance ladder belonging to Myrtle Beach (SC) fire department. From what I am told all of Myrtle Beachs' equipment will be replaced with all new equipment in a lease program that will take place very soon. |
