1. Josh’s birth name was Joshua Daniel Hartnett

2. He was born on 21 July 1978, in San Francisco.

3. He is 6’3” – now that’s tall!

4. At South High School (in Minneapolis, Minnesota) Josh played football.

5. He quit football in high school because of an injured left knee.

6. He worked in a video store during his pre-actor years at High School as well.

7. He graduated from High School in June of 1996, then attended SUNY in New York.

8. In April of 1997, he was offered the role of Michael Fitzgerald in a short-lived television series called ‘Cracker’.

9. Josh had his big break into movies with his starring role in Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998).

10. In 1999, Josh was chosen as one of Teen People Magazine's ‘21Hottest Stars Under 21’.
11. He auditioned for Remember the Titans (2000).

11. Josh started his own production company, Roulette Entertainment, with Elden Henson. Josh has two younger brothers and a younger sister as well. Their names are Jessica, Jake, and Joe – I guess his parents really liked ‘J’.

12. He was caught robbing a Dairy Queen when he was 16 (he and his friends were actually making a short film).

13. He was raised for the most part by his father, Daniel, and stepmother, Molly.

14. His mother moved back to San Francisco after divorcing his father, and Josh grew up in Minnesota.

15. Josh was in a production of ‘Tom Sawyer’; he played the part of Huckleberry Finn.

16. He went to high school with actress Rachael Leigh Cook – she played Josie in the ‘Josie and the Pussycats’ movie.

17. Josh did boot camp as training towards his film, ‘Black Hawk Down’ He says, ‘we were in boot camp for four days, and at the end of it, I wanted to hurt some authority figure really bad. But the respect I earned for [people in the military] was great, because I could never do it. And that's what doing this is about--living a life I can't live.’

18. Josh’s great uncle was in D-day all the way to the Battle of the Bulge. He read his great uncle’s war letters when they were filming ‘Pearl Harbor’.

19. Josh has said of acting, ‘I'm going to see how far I can ride this thing. I can always quit, and the fame will go away in no time
