More about who we are. |

I've noticed this type of thing always works better as an FAQ page. So here are some of the Frequently Asked Questions we get: What exactly is Redline Radio? Redline Radio is a low powered FM radio station that serves the communities on Chicago's far north side. This includes (not exclusively) Uptown, Edgewater, Roger's Park and even Evanston. How long have you been around? The Redline Radio collective was founded in the summer of 2001. We have been on the air since December of 2001. Who owns Redline Radio? There is no single owner of Redline Radio. The station is run by a collective of dues-paying volunteers. Do you play commercials? As we do not depend on revenue from advertising, we do not find the need to run advertising. Our station is 100% commercial free. How do you decide what to play? There is no collective process for deciding what content goes on the air. All decisions for music and other show content are left entirely up to the DJ. There is also no collective process for deciding what does NOT go on the air. While our DJs do act responsibly, it is possible for some of the content to be found as offensive by a small segment of our listeners. We apologize to those listeners, while reminding them that the views and opinions expressed by individual DJs are not neccesarily shared by all of Redline Radio. What does that mean to me, the listener? I'm glad you asked that. It means you'll be benefitting from radio free from corporate influence. Local radio that informs, as well as entertains. So much of the radio market in Chicago is owned by big corporate giants. What that results in is watered-down, bland sounding radio. It all sounds the same! Have you ever noticed that 94.7 and 101.1 sound the exact same?!?! We have! That's why we started this little project. How can I volunteer? Send us an email at info@redlineradio.org or come visit us at on of our events. Got a question of your own? Contact us. |
