Hotaru is one of the most mysterious senshi. The soldier of Death and Rebirth, she herself dies and is reborn a number of times: as a child in a labratory accident, when Mistress 9 takes over her body, when she ends the world, and when she is possessed by Galaxia. While the others also go through this process, none do with such frequency as Olivia. Often she will be pictured when Naoko Takeuchi is writting about some tragedy in the past. But Saturn is not a tragic figure, or even a harbinger of any sort. While it is true that her coming brings death, it also is true that it brings life and a new begining. She is the embodiment of Nehereinia's words to Sailor Moon: "The light calls the darkness as the darkness calls the light." Sailor Saturn is the ultimate force. Without her, there is no change.
