Having all these unstructured days is causing me to lose track of time. It’s very weird to have all this time stretching ahead of me and not caring what happens, where I go or what I do.

The problem will come in when I DO have somewhere that I have to be and I forget to go there.

It’s awfully easy to drift aimlessly through the day, moving from one thing to another and only staying as long as I’m not bored. Or until something else grabs my interest.

I had decided that I really needed to stay in today in that my horoscope was warning against spending money. I know that if I go out I’ll spend money because the places that I like to go to are bookstores and crafting stores. And lately home stores or organizational stores. I do have it in mind that I will get this place organized, it just seems so overwhelming that I don’t manage to make much headway.

At the moment the living room is totally torn apart, and I don’t want to put it back together until I decide EXACTLY where I want everything to go. I plan to relegate some of the stuff (the crafting stuff) to the second bedroom, but until I tear that apart I don’t know what will fit or what I have to keep where it is.

It’s that sense of not knowing where to start that keeps me immobile!

I’ve decided to learn a song in baritone. It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard. Normally I sing lead, which is the melody, but I’ve decided to challenge myself to learn a song in baritone.

I’ve chosen "You are my sunshine" because it’s a new one to the chorus and it may be one we use in contest. So I’ve learned it in lead (and this one is weird because it’s not always the melody line, and not the tune I know from my childhood), and am now trying to learn it in baritone. I have a learning tape so I listen and try to sing along.

It must sound like sick cats to anyone who is in hearing range.

I learned it in lead first so I could have a sense of where these notes fit into the chord structure. I’m hoping that doesn’t work against me and I don’t suddenly start singing lead in the middle of the song.

I just felt as if I needed some sort of a challenge, something to keep me interested in going to rehearsals.

I started making some 4th of July cards today. It’s the first time I’ve even attempted to stamp since early May. I’ve finished two of them and am very satisfied with the results, although getting there took many twists and turns. This all came about because of a large flag stamp that I bought this weekend. It’s a very cool stamp; it looks as if this flag is blowing in the breeze. I’ve added some firecrackers and bursts of fireworks and it’s quite festive looking.

Of course it took me about four hours to pull this together and come up with a design I liked. Even deciding what colors of paper and what textures of paper to use took ages. I’ll get them in the mail tomorrow.

I’m going to mail them in clear envelopes to show off my artwork!
