Wishing Upon A Star

March 24
Caffeine Attack

I have been wide-awake all day. I hardly slept last night and I should be crashing, but I’m not. The caffeine of yesterday seems to have invaded my system thoroughly and I’m never going to sleep again.

I can’t say I feel energized, but I am wide-awake!

I feel as if I’ve spent the whole day running around and not getting a lot done, but feeling busy at every second. It’s weird. I have a report that’s due next week, but I can’t seem to get my head together to get it written. That is a real bummer as that means that I have to write it at home this weekend.

That’ll tie up my Sunday.

I’m so glad that it’s Friday. This week was one of the longest in recent memory. We’re finally at the end of March, the month I hate the most. April is around the corner and spring is on the way.

Hallelujia!

Dee and I went to the Olive Garden for dinner tonight (it’s hard to find a place we can be sure to get seafood, as we’re both doing the meatless Friday thing during Lent). The dinner was fine, but we felt very rushed. The waitress just wanted to get us out of there and get another party to sit at our table as quickly as possible. I hate that. I like to be able to have a leisurely meal and conversation.

Neither one of us felt like going anywhere afterwards, so I was home by eight. I made a quick trip to Barnes and Noble to see if they had the new edition of "The Stamper’s Sampler" magazine, but no luck.

I may have to make a run to the stamp store tomorrow to see if I can get a copy.

Seems like a good excuse to drive 30 miles doesn’t it?

I hope Iron Chef isn’t a rerun tonight!

Trivia:What were the largest birds that ever lived?

When humans first came to the island of Madagascar around 600 AD, it was home to the largest birds that ever lived, the giant, flightless elephant birds (Aepyornis maximus). The last one probably died about 800 years ago. The liquid capacity of one elephant bird egg was about two gallons (7.5 liters), 180 times that of a chicken egg, possibly making it the largest single cell ever. An adult bird probably weighed about one thousand pounds (450 kilograms). Like their living cousins the ostriches, they were running birds with thick, muscular legs and vestigial wings. The elephant birds were among many species of large animals that disappeared from Madagascar after humans arrived. Today, the island's animal life is much reduced. Destruction of habitat has eliminated many species, and many more are threatened.
