Halloween Foosball News 'N Notes

HOW 'BOUT THEM RED SOX!?!

The Boston Red Sox won an incredible game five of the ALDS against the Oakland Athletics last night by a score of 4-3.  Manny Ramirez had a three run home run, Pedro Martinez pitched 7 strong innings, and Derek Lowe had one of the most clutch performances of alltime, as the Sox move on to face the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.  Game one of the ALCS will be held tomorrow night, October 8th, in New York.  It should be one hell of a series.

Expect lots of discussion between Red Sox fan, James Ostis and Yankee fan, Angel Nales.  The two rivals have faced many times in the Halloween Foosball Tournament and the battle between the Sox and Yankees have often been been a major subplot.  Jim has always won in foosball, while Angel has the edge when it comes to team's performance.  That could all change this year however.

Greg Ouellette is planning on camping out before every home game in an effort to get day of game tickets.  Jim may join him once or twice, but probably not every single game.  There is a potential this could cause a controversy on October 25th.  Stay tuned.

In more Halloween Foosball Tournament related news, there is a review of the first round of the Celebrity Tournament now up in both the Latest News section and the VHFT main page.  So far four people have voted in the second round of the tournaments.  There will only be a couple more days left in round 2.

More thoughts are being given to the big games to be held in conjunction with the Halloween Foosball Tournament.  Plans for softball are still in preliminary stages.  However Jim expects more discussion on that, and the football game over the next couple days. The hope is that if there are enough players, there could be lineman to block instead of the one Mississippi rule.  The site of the game is still undetermined.  The top choice is to hold it on the reservoir hill again, like in 2001, however consideration is being given to holding the game at Gage field by the Robinson.  That's also where the softball game would likely take place if it were to occur. The hockey game would be held in the backyard.

And finally, the magic number has been reached!  At 11:11 PM October 7th, 2003, James Ostis accessed the HFT website to see that the counter has reached 1,000 hits.  Its a milestone number for the Halloween Foosball Tournament website which was started back in 2000. Considering that the website only has a target audience of about 20 people tops, and that Jim has never wanted his site advertised outside that world, it makes the number all the more impressive.

Go Sox!
