Get ready for the Mustangs
LOWELL, MA- During the same weekend he became the league's newest 18-year-old, Steven Ostis became the second captain to name his franchise in the new Lowell Football League. The Mustangs will take the field in two weeks to take on Greg's yet-to-be-named team in the league's inaugural game.
The Mustangs are not named after the "small, hardy wild horse of the North American plains, descended from Arabian horses brought to America by Spanish explorers," of course, but rather the sports car made by Ford that Steve plans on buying eventually.
Some will also look at the name "Mustangs" as a tribute to Mr. Steve Cyr, the reading teacher at the Bartlett Middle School that Steve and Jim's Big Game football team, the Mister Cyrs are named after. There is talk that Greg will follow Steve when he names his franchise. According to those rumors Greg, who actually owns a vehicle made by Ford Motors, would name his team after his car and call it the Escort Service.
Steve's announcement which was made official on his birthday April 3rd, means that half of the league's four teams have been given names. Keith Ouellette was the first captain to name his club, dubbing them "Team Animosity," however that news was withheld because of the belief by some fellow players that the name was stupid.
The Commissioner expects all of the teams to be named by this weekend.
