The following transportation services are offered by the Milton Council on Aging.

MEDICAL VAN DAYS - These are usually on Monday and are set aside for routine, local medical appointments.  Transportation requests should be made as soon as possible but at least 48 hours in advance.

SCHEDULED MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS - The Council on Aging vans are available Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to assist seniors in getting doctors appointments, testing or other such services.  These appointments should be as soon as they are booked with the doctor.  Again, we do require at least 48 hours notice.  We will make an exception in the case of an emergency appointment.  When you call to schedule a ride, please be prepared to provide the following information:

Name                          Emergency Contact

Address                       Appointment Time

Telephone #                 Doctor's Name, Address & Telephone #

Attention:  Patients in wheel chairs must be evaluated prior to van use by a member of the Milton Council on Aging Outreach staff.  Our driver's are not EMT'S so, we must be assured that the patient has no medical needs that can not be addressed by our drivers.

DONATION POLICY - Although there is no set charge for any transportation provided by the COA, there is a SUGGESTED donation.  The donation policy is as follows (based on a round trip):

                         Local Medical (Milton) - $4.00

                         Quincy, Dorchester, Weymouth - $8.00

                         Boston & Vicinity - $15.00

Again this is a suggested donation, please be assured that no one will be denied transportation if they are unable to make a donation.

GROCERY SHOPPING:  Grocery Shopping Transportation is provided on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to the following locations:

          Tuesday -  Stop & Shop (Hyde Park) -- 2 trips ( 9AM & 1PM)

          Wednesday - Star Market (Quincy)

          Thursday - Stop & Shop (Newport Ave Quincy) - 2 trips ( 9AM & 1PM)

Reservations are required at least 48 hours in advance.  There is a four (4) bag limit on groceries.  Suggested donation is $2.00 and we ask that if you are not able to go shopping you call us at (617) 898-1094 so that the driver does not make an unneccesary stop.

MEAL SITE TRANSPORTATION - The van is vaialable on Monday + Thursday to bring clients to the Meal Site at Unquity House, 30 Curtis Rd.  This again is a suggested $2.00 donation and reservations are required.

FRIDAY LIGHT LUNCH and MOVIE TRANSPORTATION - Every Friday the van is available to bring you to the Senior Center for our light lunch and movie program.  The program starts around 12 noon and the van will usually pick you up around 11:15 PM.  Most of the movies end at around 3 PM and you will be brought home after the movie.  The donation for this program is $2.00 for the ride.  A basket is available for your donation during lunch.

SPECIAL TRANSPORTATION REQUESTS - Whenever possible, we will be happy to arrange for the van to pick you up and bring you to programs and activities at the Senior Center or other locations.  We will also try to help out with any special requests you may have such as visiting a spouse in a hospital or nursing home.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, there may be times when the van is running a little late.  We ask you to please be patient and courteous to the drivers.

The Milton Council on Aging is pleased to be able to offer these transportation services to the senior citizens of Milton.  Please feel free to call us at (617) 898-1094 for additional information.

* DUE TO THE GREAT DEMAND FOR MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO PRIORITIZE TRANSPORTATION.  WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO ACCOMMODATE ALL REQUESTS, BUT MEDICAL EMERGENCY TAKE TOP PRIORITY.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
