My name is Sumanitu Taka Ina
or in English that would be Motherwolf. Thank you for coming. I am Lakota
Sioux and Cheyenne. And I have devoted my life to teaching the children
the old ways of my people and to anyone who has the desire to learn
them and use them in an honorable fashion. I was not always called Motherwolf
at one time in my life I was called Broken Fawn. But I have gone through
many spiritual changes and have been guided to this work and this is
why they call me Motherwolf. I will help guide anyone I can if it is
the will of our creator.
I live in the beautiful mountains of Colorado where I have been all
of my life. I find so much peace here. I love to just take a ride on
my horse in the woods and see the beauty of our Mother Earth. But there
are many times I am saddened to see what people have done to her. It
is my prayer that anyone who reads my pages will try and make a difference.
I make traditional handmade buckskins, beadwork, purses, medicine bags,
tobacco pouches, walking sticks and much, much more. Custom orders are
available and I have many things on hand. I like to do custom orders
as I feel that they have more spirit in them that way. I get to know
the person that I am creating it for and it is much more personal that
way. I will never duplicate my work so that whatever you have done is
a one of a kind peace of art from me just for you!
My life is also filled with blessings of a family of 1 boy and 4 girls.
And a husband that does very special artwork as well. You can find out
more about them in the pages to come. I also have 5 horses and a wolf
dog who has been with me longer than anyone in the family. I call him
the old man. He has been my best friend and protector for many years.
My horse is my special friend as well she has been with me for 7 yrs.
now. She is a brindle buckskin and a very good girl.
In all of my years I have been blessed with so many things and I am
truly grateful for them all. I have been through so much in my life
and I know I went through all of these things to get to where I am now.
I know that I am not in control of things and that was the greatest
blessing to ever happen to me. I walk this Red Road with all honor and
respect. I still have so very much to learn but as I stay firmly planted
in this road I find that the lessons come easier every day.
My wish and prayer are for all nations and people to come together as
one someday without all of the fear and hate. I know that is a lot to
ask but my people had that so many years ago and I would love to be
able to have it that way again. To be able to practice our sacred ceremonies
openly and to feel free on our own land once again. Dreams can only
happen if we all try and make them possible.
