Lying there beneath the sheet
That clings to the curves of his body,
The pale skin of his shoulders
Exposed where the cover ends.
His body moves gently with every breath,
His head rested upon the crook of his arm,
Fingernails dark against the white sheet.
Shadows fall across him then,
A dark movement in the room.
He stirs, lifts his sleepy head.
A cry freezes in his throat
As he feels hands upon him,
Nails scratch against his flesh,
Holding him down.
A tender kiss touches his neck
Then sudden white sharpness,
A bolt of pain
And his skin yields, running red.
He faces her in this agony,
Sees the black depths of the eyes
That will not leave his,
Eyes that he recognises.
Her lips touch his,
The blood-kiss sealed.
And then he responds,
Trailing red touches down her neck.
Her fingers twist through his hair,
Guiding him until he feels
A slender gash on her throat
And he gasps as he tastes her
Sweet blood within him.
Their eyes locked
As the darkness descends.
Love, eternal.
