What is Asshole?Asshole is a card game that requires a minimum of four people to play. The more people to play, the better. Also, if you are using more people, it is a good idea to add another deck of cards into play. The object of the game is to disperse all your cards into play. We will get into that a little later on. How do you set up for Asshole?First, you need beer. In this game beer can go quick, so you might want to bring two bottles or cans to the table. Have all the players sit around in a circle on the floor or at a table. For the first round, anyone can deal out the cards. All the other rounds, there will be an Asshole to deal the cards. Poor poor asshole. All the cards will be dealt out to the players. Some players will have more cards than others, that is not a problem. The President, which will be explained later, can decide which way the dealing may go. It can either start with the President and go down or start with the Asshole and go up. Back to Top
How do you play Asshole?Asshole is a pretty simple game, but it does require strategy. The card values are the same, except four is the lowest card. Than 5,6,7,8,9,10,J,Q,K,A. The 2 and 3 have special duties. Actually the 2 is a regular playing card, but it is the highest. It ranks over the Ace. The 3 card is the clear card. This card can be used at anytime to clear the entire pile and start fresh. Who ever threw the 3 card now gets to go first. For the first round of play, the person holding on to the four of Clubs gets to go first. After this round, the President goes first. That person must start off with the 4 of clubs. If he has two fours, club and diamond, he can lay both four's on the table. If a pair is thrown down, only pairs can be thrown this turn. this goes the same for triples and four of a kind. If you are unable to throw down a card on your turn, you must pass and also take a drink. If someone throws a the same cards down, for example a single 8 was thrown on a single 8, the next person is skipped and must drink. *Whenever you can not go or get skipped, you must drink.* The object of this game is to get rid of all your cards. To get rid of them first is the best, but don't be last or you will be Asshole. When you get to the last card in your hand, you must say 'Last Card', before some one catches you. If some one says it before you do, you are Asshole. If you are ending your hand with a pair or three of a kind, you only need to say 'Last Cards' when you are laying them on the table. Back to Top
Who is Asshole?Asshole is the loser of the last round of play. The asshole is now the dealer of the cards and clears the pile of cards on the table when cleared or finished. The asshole position is one of the hardest to work out of. Mainly because, the President and Asshole must trade one card. The Asshole must give him his best card, while the President can give him any card he wants to. If the Asshole lies about is best card (3 is the best card), and the President catches him. The Asshole becomes automatic Asshole for the next round. Back to Top
Any special rules?There are many versions of Asshole, and you can make your own modifications. The main special rule to remember is, when the cards are first dealt, no one is allowed to pick up their hand until the President has done so. If any one picks up before the President, take a drink. If someone is the President for 3 consecutive times, they get to make a rule. For example, "No curse rule" or "thumb rule." The "thumb rule" is when the president places his thumb on the table at any given time and the last one to place their finger on the table, drinks. Back to Top
