High Elves
One of the most Powerful of all kinds of Immortals, High Elves are best known for their pointed ears and otherwise human appearence. They are not the tiny little men that helped the shoemaker in the fairy tale. Those were other creatures sometimes known as Brownies and Pixies, but they are as close to Elves as lizards are to Dragons.
Elves are the most human of all Immortals, but, like all Immortals, even the plainest Elf is as good looking as more good looking human. That is where the term 'fair folk' came from.
Legends
Elves have existed in legends for centaries, and have been known by thousands of different names. The names Sidhe, Useelie, älva, älvor, feer, tomte, ćlfe, ljósálfar, and svartálfar are all names for basically the same thing. The reason that most of the Elves mentioned in the stories are unpleasent is because those that caused trouble are what humans call "Dark Elves.
