"Guru", the universally accepted word for a mental and spiritual teacher and guide, originated in the Sanskrit language, in ancient India, and holds great significance for every Indian, including me.

As a child I grew up realizing and believing that teachers are second only to parents in imparting knowledge as well as showing us the right path in life. My childhood has had a profound influence on my future. Having a mother who is a teacher herself and having studied under various inspiring teachers, my passion for teaching comes as no surprise. My father being a Captain at sea has provided me with the opportunity to travel and live all over the world, notably in London, Dubai, Singapore, and the United States, in addition at to the land of my birth, India.

Once out of school I achieved my Bachelors and Masters Degree in Commerce and Economics, while my creativity found at outlet in a Fashion Designing course. I am currently in the process of obtaining a second Masters Degree in Education from Dominican University.I have now been enjoying marital bliss for the past one year and finally my love for teaching has led me here to this wonderful 3rd grade class.

I firmly believe that a teacher can earn the respect of his/her students by showing confidence in their ability and successfully presenting himself/herself as someone they would willingly follow and relate to. I also know that, for children, sometimes the process of discovering knowledge is more thrilling that the ultimate discovery itself. As a result there will always be a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application in my classroom.

Ultimately I realize that a co-operative family plays a very important role in a child’s academic growth, like it did in mine. That is the reason why I always encourage parent involvement and participation in my classroom.
