Champions of the Rouge

Over the years, there have many highlights that the Fort Rouge Curling Club is very proud of. In historical order they are:

1952 and 1956 The Leap Year Canadian Champions (MacDonald Briers)

The 1956 Brier is commemorated by a unique trophy called "The Moncton Trophy" recalling the final shot in the 13th end of a playoff game.

1958 Manitoba Ladies Provincial Champions

Skip - Ester Poulton; third - May Graham; second - Mary Chalmers; lead - Dorothy Starr

1972 Canadian Champions (MacDonald Brier) and Air Canada Silver Broom World Champions

1992 Canadian Ladies Champions

The girls won the Bronze medal at the World Championships. This team represented Team Canada in the 1993 Canadian Ladies Championships.

The Fort Rouge is proud to have several of its members inducted into the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame. They include:

1991 - The 1972 World Champions (Orest Meleschuk, Dave Romano, John Hanesiak and Pat Hailley)
1993 - The 1984 World Ladies Champions (Connie Laliberte, Chris More, Corinne Laliberte and Janet Arnott)
The Fort Rouge Curling Club has four of its members serve as President of the Manitoba Curling Association:

Honorary Life Members of the Manitoba Curling Association from Fort Rouge are:
Claude Reid, Spence Shiach, Bill Scott, Jack Smith, Andy McWilliams and Al Langlois.
The Men's Club has issued honorary life memberships to:
Hal Pullin, Al Langlois, Spence Shiach, Bob Sangster, Ken Hilton, J. Dewolfe, Jack Smith, Archie Hardie, Claude Reid, T. Ritchie, Tom Gill, Bill Scott, Paul Lucko, D. (Pinky) Dewolfe, Paul Pelletier, Hugh Cook, Bruce Russel, Bob Boughey, Sid Butler, Elizabeth Stolle and Rolf Stolle.
