Moroccan Madness

Morocco was most definately my most memorable trip. The land was fabulous, (i even spent the night on blankets in the Sahara!) though very unyielding. Being a female, I wouldn't recommend any other females going there without a male companion, and VERY thick skin.

The Color of Leather

These dye tanks in Fes are used to dye wool, fabrics and leather. The yellow derives from saffron, blue from indigo, and red from poppy. The workers stand in the tubs of dye and use their feet to mix the material into the color.

Welcome to the Souks

This is the main "door" leading into the city in Fes. The souks, or markets, are right inside where one can barter for silver, clothing, carpets, cooking utensils, leather, musical instruments, and numerous other goods.

The Courtyard

This area is part of the center courtyard of former dormitories in Fes. No longer in use, it is now a walkway to the area of prayer, restricted to Muslims only.
