Eriksdale Equestrian Society history The Eriksdale Equestrian Society (EES) held their first meeting on March 1, 1989. All interested people were invited to attend, but we started out small with only seven people coming forward. At the first meeting they decided on there name.

The first year was a difficult one, as they started with little idea of who they were or where they wanted to go. It turned out to be a very busy one for them. They felt joining the Manitoba Horse Council would give them a provincial structure to follow. Joining the provincial bods would also make available to them athlete development programs, fundraising opportunities and give them insurance for all the club events.

Joining the horse council was a task in itself as a constitution had to be drafted for there club. This was beneficial to them as it helped identify there goals and where they were going. Members of the EES were to try and increase enrollment at local horse shows by promoting more regional attendance through the development of an interlake circuit.

Each year they organise one or two clinics and try to maintain a high level of judging by hiring only breed approved or C.E.F. approved judges.

On March 23, 1989 a letter of acceptance was sent to the Man. Horse council and finally on Jan. 1, 1991 they were accepted as a member club of the M.H.C. the first director to the board was Kelly Stuart.

There first western show was held Aug. 19, 1989 at the Eriksdale Rec. Centre. They obtained the use of the arena in exchange for doing the cleanup at the 200 club dinner. There judge for the first show was Robert Catellier. They ran 39 classes, gave out ribbons and trophies. They had obtained Jr. Int. and Sr. hi-pt. Sponsors and gave out travelling trophies. Unfortunately, there classes never seemed to end and the show ran until 10:00 p.m.
