The new Los Angeles Gold Line is the latest addition to MTA's Metro Rail lines. It is scheduled to open on July 26. The line has been complete now for several months, and final preparations are underway to finish the stations and familiarize the operators with the line. The Gold Line runs from Los Angeles Union Station to Pasadena, using the old Santa Fe Second Subdivision right of way for most of the way. There are 12 stations on the line, each uniquely designed for its area. The top speed on the line is 55mph, and it uses the same light rail trolleys as the Green Line and Blue Line. I toured the new Gold Line on July 9 with some members of the Los Angeles Railway Heritage Foundation. You can see data sheet on the Siemens light rail vehicles used on the line. So hop on, grab a seat, and enjoy this virtual tour of LA's newest rail line.
