My Journalism class, Surry Community College, Fall Quarter 1982. Not only a class but also the club—we put out the directory (which in any other year was the yearbook, The Lancer), the newspaper (The Squires Voice)), and a paper update (the Knight Life Bulletin). Mrs. Aldridge (third from left, standing) was our instructor. Her husband was a reverend. Dianna Beseth is second from left, standing; Pamela Burcham is fifth from left, standing; Editor La Treice Cannon is seventh from left, beside me, Business Manager, at far right. Deneane Kidd is on the left sitting; Betty Thomas on the right, sitting. Seems Michael Jackson based all of his subsequent plastic surgeries on this photo of me. Ibelieve that shirt's color pattern (against the white) was either a blue and gray or red and gray one; the belt may be a leather woven one, and the pants were very faded blue jeans. A version of my Surry Community College sophomore class photograph, fall 1982. My mother used a color version as my "picture" for her and Dad's bedroom for many years. I seem to remember my pose slightly different and being a bit more buttoned up. The long-sleeved shirt, I believe, was bought at Belk's. It was navy blue with an orange stripe bordered on each side by a white strip. It was cotton and very comfortable. The eyeglasses were larger then—perhaps we will one day ridicule the very small lenses we sport today. The hair was a different brown then—not as dark as this picture seems to portray. And, of course, that's my original mouth (i.e., pre-accident of August 1999). |
