On Wednesday, 15 April 2009, my brother Bill and I attended the Tax Day Tea Party in Annapolis, Maryland. Through a wind-driven, cold rain we walked and attended. Though the sound amplification was inadequate, we attended. The point was made: right-thinking Americans: you are not alone.
I have begun to compile my Manifesto. This may be my legacy... I may not get there with you....
"Ebb and flow, ebb and flow—the tide's back out—and I'm at the point of wondering why I continue to live at the seashore."
• "Think globally; act locally. So less Federal government, more power to the States, Counties, Municipalities. and, above all, the individual Citizens." [summer of 2009]
• "Happy Autumn 2009: as the leaves turn red and gold, our government is red and we've no gold." [Monday, 2 November 2009]
• "You know those two women had to go down on Clinton in the jet." [Wednesday, 5 August 2009]
• "In a perfect world, [Henry Louis] Gates [Jr.] would have been pulled for DUI upon leaving the White House." [on Friday, 31 July 2009—and placed on the Net on Monday, 3 August 2009]
• [When a PA Lavender Festival attendee commented on my duty of stamping each hand at the Admissions Booth, "You're having a good time, aren't you?":] "Well, they took away my stapler." [Sunday, 21 June 2009 at the PA Lavender Festival]
• "Shih tzus—yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap—living advertisements for steel-toed shoes." [Sunday, 21 June 2009 while at the PA Lavender Festival]
• "General Electric: the New Left's Halliburton." [Monday, 1 June 2009]
• "Rachel Alexandra, a filly, won the Preakness. Females are getting all of the jobs." [mid-May 2009]
• "Arlen Specter, David Suter: two more faux Republicans out of our way. Before you polish your ideas back up, you first have to scrape off the scum." [Friday Afternoon, 1 May 2009]
• "Hey, I live in Pennsylvania: Arlen Specter never was a Republican—no gain, no loss." [Friday Afternoon, 1 May 2009.]
• "Earth Day 2009: The first person who blames America for global warming gets my carbon footprint up his ass." [my headline at MySpace, as of Wednesday, 22 April 2009]
• "You can drink the "Kool Aid" coming out of Washington,
or you can try the Tea." [Monday Afternoon, 13 April 2009]
• "Usually Congress is trying to sell us a bill of goods—this time, they trying to sell us a no-good bill." [on the Wall Street Bail Out, thought of in late September 2008; put down here on Sunday, 5 October 2008]
• "I can never make good time on your driveway." [Sunday, 18 May 2008]

• "It seems that I now only meet types of people, not unique individuals. Sure, the inner qualities and outer looks are sometimes mixed up for some interest, but everyone is soon ID-ed as reminding me of some him or her—someone else." [Wednesday Night, 23 July 2008]
• "If it ain’t got a tag, keep it off the drag." [mid-April 2008, in reference to farm equipment on the public roadways tying up traffic, leaving manure, straw, etc., and otherwise damaging the pavement]
• "Motorcyclists are everywhere—I think I still have part of one on my front bumper." [early March 2008, in answer to the slogan of these unfortunately street-legal ATVs and their antics]
• "I make my own coincidences." [later March 2008]
• "I can spin a product. I'll point out the rainbow in the oil slick—no problem." [early April 2008 at a Hagerstown job placement agency]
• "Your daughter has a very decisive knock. She'll make an effective landlady one day." [Monday, 28 April 2008 to customers whose very patient child had been waiting a good half hour in the car with her younger sisters before checking in on her parents.]

After 10½ years in the area, in March 2008, I discovered another great park, Pine Hill, and it's local!
"Yes, call my pottery 'primitive.' But consider it not an art style but a skill level." • I threw 23 for the 17th Annual Potters Bowl 2009—I donated 15 of them to the event, and gave a small sea foam vase to the March 2009 Washington County Habitat for Humanity Dinner & Auction. The vase went for $20.00. Seven of the remaining bowls need a glaze refiring, mostly due to the kiln wash snowing down of them. • I got to give 18 works to Potters Bowl 2008... and had my best business cards ever: two-sided, in color. • Although I took several pictures of each bowl, I discontinued my work on the web page for the '08 and '06 pottery, as the business cards with the URL link did not generate any hits on the pages. Because of my injury, the '06 pottery that was left over was my contribution to Potters Bowl '07. No cards were placed in the '07 bowls and no web page was created. |
