Chapter 40

Krissa woke up early and hobbled downstairs and sat on the porch in the front of the Hanson’s house. Today was the day they got their car back and everything went back to normal. Today they’d head back to Texas and she could forget she ever met Taylor Hanson, but then again she couldn’t. As she watched the sun touch the morning sky she realize Taylor changed her life. If she wasn’t such a realist she could almost believe she was in love with Taylor, then again so were a lot of girls her age, but they were in “luv” with the idol not the person. Krissa sighed and realized life wouldn’t be the same, life was changed, she had changed and maybe today would be a brand new day. Krissa stood up in her excitement and fell back down, casts tend to do give you a lack of balance. Krissa chirped, “Ouch!” and Taylor walked onto the porch as if on cue.

“Nice PJ’s.” Taylor said with his charming smile as Krissa noticed the monkeys and bananas all over the top and bottom of her flannel pajamas. “Thanks, same to you.” Krissa laughed, although Taylor was pretty much already dressed as if he planned to follow her outside at 6 a.m. “So, ready for the trip back?” Taylor asked as he sat down on the bench next to her. “Oh yea, let me tell ya, a load of kids in a mini-van real fun!” Krissa exclaimed. “I know how it is, honestly.” Taylor replied as he squeezed her hand. “I’m really going to miss you Taylor, I feel like such an idiot for ever thinking…” Krissa drifted. “…That I was a girl? It’s ok, I get it all the time, I’m just REALLY in touch with my feminine side, y’know.” Taylor said as he batted his eyes and Krissa giggled. Krissa said, “Seriously Tay! After talking last night it really got a lot off my chest I feel renewed, or at least not as guilty, thanks for being my friend.” “Oh it was no problem, since I’m getting paid and all, just kidding.” Taylor joked as he nudged her. He was really starting to like Krissa, no really like Krissa, if she didn’t live so far away he’d consider a relationship, but the fact was, she did live far away, and long distance didn’t work, he saw Ike and Sarah’s relationship crumble, wouldn’t want that. “You know Tay, I’m going to marry you one day, you’re truly a keeper. I mean you’ve got money, looks, a great taste in clothes, and you’re a good listener. Did I mention you have a great taste in clothes?” Krissa told him as she put her head on his shoulder. “I know, you know what they say, The Ladies Love Jordan Taylor… just kidding, you’re cool too, if you didn’t live so far away, whatever, just make sure you keep in touch okay?” Taylor asked her. “But of course, I promise if you do” Krissa replied as Taylor said, “I promise that, no matter what.” and they gazed off into the horizon.

As the parents packed up the mini-van which had only recently been returned to the Nicholes’ family Ike and Chloe said their goodbyes. “Chloe, sorry this whole thing couldn’t of been more but long distance relationships don’t work I should know… but maybe one day, you never know.” Ike said as he hugged her tight. “Chill Ike, it was fun while it lasted and I know what you’re saying. You better call me sometimes or I’ll feel really rejected! Plus I know where you live! Maybe one day we could continue but no biggie, you’re one cool guy Ike, don’t change.” Chloe said in his ear as a tear dripped down her eye.

“Zac, I want to make amends, I’m sorry.” Lia told Zac as she put out her hand to handshake. Ike interrupted, “All is fair in love and war…” “Shut-up!” Zac and Lia retorted in unison as they glared at Ike. “Chill, it’s all ok, although I didn’t appreciate you taking my saying Holy Poptarts! It’s a Zac trademark, next think you know you’ll be saying peace, love, and bulletproof marshmallows!” Zac exclaimed. “Hey! I said that FIRST!!!!! You ‘tard I wrote that on the white board in your bedroom! You are going to get pounded for that one! Steal all my good lines!!!” Lia screamed as she ran after Zac ready to pound him.

“Well, it seems that everyone is back to normal, or whatever normal was.” Krissa told Taylor as they watched Zac and Lia fight over one-liners. “God, I don’t want to say goodbye, let’s just say see ya round, goodbyes are so final.” Taylor said as he and Krissa hugged. “Ok, see ya round Taylor Hanson. May all your records sell in the millions and your fans continue to be obsessive compulsive about your blonde tresses!” Krissa exclaimed as she felt his soft hair. “Well then, see ya round Krissa Nicholes otherwise known as “Tiny Tim”, may you safely endure the rest of high school, and not become a cross guard.” Taylor replied and smiled brightly. “C’mon, the Tiny Tim jokes are getting old, Zac was taunting me about it all week! Yesterday he asked me to say, “God bless us everyone” just about one hundred times! I feel like a dummy, like an actual dummy of wood.” Krissa said back as her and Taylor embraced. Taylor replied, “Well you aren’t the brightest of us all, knock on wood” as he knocked on her head. “Ha ha ha Mister ROCK STAR!” Krissa retorted as her parents called her to the car.

Krissa waved back to Taylor as the car pulled away watching as the speck of him became smaller in the distance. “So, Krissa feel like spraining another wrist, I’m thinking the band BUSH, Gavin is majorly hot, I’d love to meet him,I figure we could do it, hehehe, it'd be a nice kinda deja vu and at least he doesn't look like a chick..just kidding *smile*” Lia said. Krissa's eyes wandered off looking through the window onto the outside world. Everything was whizzing by so fast and she couldn't stop it, but at least she was going somewhere, even if it was without Taylor.

The End, for now.
