Friday had rolled around
quickly, and being my usual self, I had
postponed packing until the last
minute "Moll, come help me here" "Madison, we leave in half hour and you still aren't done packing?" "I'm done" I started "I just can't close this suitcase" "Here. Molly bent down "Sit on it. You sit on it, and I'll zipper it up" Thanks to Molly, I got my luggage closed and ready on time. We were to be at the airport at two, for a two thirty flight. We were going to meet the Hanson's, who would depart from Tulsa, at the house we all rented in Hawaii. ||||| "Madlor, I don't want you to go" Ten year old Taylor hugged me, as I hugged him back. "I don't wanna go either" I said, cying on his shoulder. "You can stay here with us" he pushed me away and looked me in the eye "Jessie's still a baby and you could babysit her, while mommy rests, with baby Avie in her stomach" Before I could answer to Taylor's suggestion, my daddy pulled me away and placed me in our van. I hated him for it, but it was the right thing to do, I would have never left. As the van pulled away and out of the Hanson driveway, Molly drapped her arm around me and I cried into her shoulder. I was leaving the Hansons, Isaac and Taylor, my best friends. I cried the whole hour drive to the airport. ||||| "It's beautiful" my mom gushed as we stepped out of the plane terminal and into the airport. "Grace" My dad, who was carrying all of our carry-on luggage, started "It's just an airport" I giggled, as I reached for one of the bags he was holding "Here dad. Give me one" Dad handed me a bag, the lightest one. "Thanks princess" "Oh, Adam. You know what I mean" Mom adjusted Melissa in her arms "Now let's go get our luggage" "Madlor!" I stopped dead in my tracks, I only allowed one person to call me that. Quickly, as if my life depended on it, I spun around. "Taylor!" Dropping everything that was in my hands I ran to him, and he ran to me. Once we met, he picked me up in his arms and it felt so good to have my best friend back. He hugged me so tight, I thought I would burst. I took in every second of that minute. "I'm so happy you're back" he whispered into my ear "Me too" I whispered, but I don't think he heard me through my sobs. Looking past Taylor, I saw the rest of the Hanson's who had by now mingled with my family. From my position with Tay, I heard my mom and Diana talking "I thought we'd meet you at the house" my mom said, while placing Melissa down. "He wouldn't have it" Diana pointed to Taylor "'We've gotta go get them mom, it wouldn't be right'" She rolled her eyes, then smiled our way. Regretfully I had to move on and away from Taylor. "Hey Maddy" Zac gave me a big hug. He reminded me much of his dad, now. "No more sticky fingers, huh?" He laughed into my shoulder "Nope. All clean" I gave him a kiss on the cheek and pulled away "Hey there, Ike" For some reason he didn't say hello to me first, I had to actually go up to him "Hello Madison" he gave me a quick hug, definitly not a best friends hug. I was a little disapointed, but moved on. Isaac was eighteen now, the same age as Molly. I know how Molly get's sometimes, and passed Isaac's attitude on as just a "mood swing". Once all greetings were made, and I hade met Avery, Mackie and Zoe for the first time, we all headed into a gigantic 16-footer van and made or way over to our house for a month and a half. home || next |
