I watched my dad's hand as he pushed the key in the door and turned it. I couldn't wait to go inside our vacation house. From the outside it was a dream. It was two story, like most of the houses we had seen on our way here. The house itself was white with a dark blue roof, the borders around each window were also dark blue. Plants, flowers and palm trees were everywhere and from what I could see there was a huge pool and hot tub in the yard. A breeze of cool air hit me as dad opened the door and we were let into one of the most beautiful interiors I have ever seen. You walked into the living room which was white, with blue furniture. A big screen television immediatly caught little Macenzie's eye, and it was on in a flash. The kitchen was all wood, with tons of closet and cabinet space. Diana, Molly and mom quickly went to investigate it some more. Dad and Walker went out into the yard, which you could easily access through glass double doors. Avery, Jessica and Melissa were already on the upper level, Picking out the room, which in the van they decided they would share. Straight ahead of me were two closed doors. I assumed they were the two bedrooms that each family's parents would get. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Isaac slowly walk up the stairs, alone. What was his problem? I made a mental note to ask Taylor of it later. "Come on, Madlor." I turned to Taylor who stood next to Zac. "Coming" I said, and followed the two brothers up the flight of blue carpeted stairs. There were five bedrooms on the upper level. One for Jessica, Avery and Melissa and the other four for the older kids of the family. We had fliped coins in the van, and it had turned out in the Hanson boys' favor. Isaac, Taylor and Zac would get their own room, while my sisters and I shared a larger room. I was bummed, but not too much. I was used to it, after all. "Madlor, c'mere" I heard Taylor's voice, but couldn't see him. Walking down the hall, I stoped when I saw Taylor standing in one of the rooms. "I'm gonna take this room, it's right next to yours." Taylor walked over to a door and opened it "Looked it has joining doors, that way if your sisters bother you, you can come in here and stay with me" I gave him a kiss on the cheek "I'm so happy to have you back" He draped his arm around my shouler "Me too. Come on, let's go see what rooms Ike and Zac picked" ||||| "Wow, guys it's awesome" I stood in awe as my nine year old eyes glanced around the newly built tree house. It was everything three best friends could want. Privacy and a fun place to stay. "Isn't it" Isaac said staring around "Thank God dad built it for us" Taylor chuckled "Yeah, and it's also good that Zac can't climb up the ladder" This made us all laugh. Poor Zac, it wasn't unil he was twelve that his brothers became close with him. "And even though it's in our yard" Taylor started "It's yours too Madlor, you can come up here whenever you want" "Yeah" Eleven year old Isaac agreed "With or without us" I gave each of them a hug "Thanks guys. This is gonna be great" ||||| That night, after all the rooms were picked, and every body's luggage was in their respectful places, all of us sat in the kitchen enjoying some great Chinese take out. "Mmmm" Mackie said with a mouthful "This is great" "Shh, Mac" Diana hushed him "Don't talk with food in your mouth" I saw mackie go to say "sorry", but stoped himself, literally listening to what his mother has said. Such an adorable kid! "Madison, could you pass the ribs?" Isaac asked "Sure" I answered, picking them up and handing them over to him It was odd though, having him talk to me only when he had too. We used to be so close, what happened? "Anybody wanna go for a night swin later" Melanie suggested. Immediatly I answered "I will" "Yeah" Taylor agreed "Me too" "Me three" Zac said, before grabbing another rib. "Count me in" Molly called, from over at the counter. "Ike?" Melanie asked with a raised eyebrow "Are you gonna join us, or be a party pooper?" Isaac grinned in Melanie's direction "I'll be there" ||||| Later that night, around ten we were all huddled around the pool, we had just gotten out from swimming for close to two hours. I had been dunked, thrown, pushed and splashed numerous times, and could hardly keep my eyes open. "I'm beat ya'll" I said, standing up "I'm going to bed" "yeah" Zac agreed walking towards me "I'm pooped too, let's go up" The rest had decided to stay out a little longer, while me and zac collapsed infront of the television in his room. Before I knew it I was out, and laying next to Zac on the floor. I woke up around two in the morning, and the thought of going back to my room ran through my mind. Yet, as quickly as it ran through it, it left it. home || next |
