We arrived in Orlando, FL 14 hours and 10 minutes after leaving home at 9:40am. Our first order of business, the Disney Character Premiere in the Premium Outlet Mall off I-4. A favorite spot of ours, you can find great deals on stuff from Disney World gift shops from the previous year or items that have been discontinued. We also enjoyed a few slices of Pizza in the nearby food court.
Our second order of business was to stop by a local K-Mart and pick up a decent but cheap stroller, as I had managed to break a wheel on our expensive stroller the night before while I was packing the car!
Finally, we headed straight for the hallowed grounds of Walt Disney World and checked in at Disney's new Pop Century Resort.
Our stay at Pop Century got off on a bad foot. Our room was in the 60's section of the resort, so I parked the car in the 60's parking lot. While the 60's building is most convieniently located near the main building where dining and shopping are, it is not located anywhere near the 60's parking lot. I had to make two long trips in the blazzing Florida sun, balancing our belongs on a luggage cart. Then after finaly getting everything to the room, and making another trip back to return the cart, I had to come back to the room and put together a new stroller. Eventualy, we rested up, cleaned up, packed up, and headed out to being our Disney fun!
We headed over to the Disney/MGM Studios were we had priority seating for the 50's Prime Time Cafe. We thought the place was pretty cool and neat to see, but we were disapointed with our experience. The food wasn't very plentiful and our server wasn't into the whole show as other servers around us were. We didn't get offered a dessert menu on a View-Master, which we were looking forward to!
Our only other main objective for the evening, was to see Fantasmic...a family favorite. For those of you who have not witnessed Fantasmic, my brother-in-law put it best at our 2002 visit, "It's like a religious experience!" However, the combination of tiredness and the loud music led Elias to spend the majority of the show with his head burried in my shoulder. Occasionaly he would turn around to see what was going on, and then very calmly but his head back onto my shoulder. He didn't cry or get upset...he just didn't care for the show!
After the show, we took the bus back to our resort and it is then that we first discovered the wonders of it's food court!
