It is my belief in the statement above that has prompted me to do much of my reading and thinking about the parenting process. The sometimes overwhelming thought that I influence a life for good or bad (or perhaps worse, indifferently) has many times driven me to my knees in prayer with my heavenly Father. Eph. 6:4 tells us to bring up our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and Prov. 22:6 tells us to train our children in the way they should go. Many, many verses speak to the fact that children are blessings and precious in the sight of God, and Jesus, himself, while on earth, indicated the value of children. We live in a society that, sadly, does not recognize the value and blessing of children. Abortion is still on the rise, and liberal politicians would have us think that we need government funded day care centers instead of moms to take care of our children. As a Christian, I count it my joy, priviledge and honor to be a mom at home nurturing, training, and caring for the needs of my children. It is a noble calling, and worthy of any personal sacrifice it may require of me. It should go without saying, but I'll say it anyway: these essays are by no means definitive. As soon as one feels finished, I am sure I will think of something that could be added. It is my intent and hope that these essays will provoke thought, inspire hope, and give encouragement to you.
