Tank 3
Tank 3 is a re-circulating 500-gallon system. The system has two 50-gallon up-flow and two 50-gallon trickle down filters with poly fiber as the filter medium. It includes three aquaponic tubes lighted by two 48-inch fluorescent lights to raise plants that help absorb nitrates. There are two satellite tanks of 10 and 30 gallons. The 10-gallon tank is lighted by a 48-inch full spectrum light that imitates natural plant light, and drains into the 30-gallon tank lighted by a 48-inch regular fluorescent light. This system runs below room temperature at 18-22 degrees celsius. This tank presently contains green sunfish.
