Capt. Robert L. Flannery, Sr,
commander of uniformed officers at the Anne Arundel county police
station at Ferndale, died last night at Mercy Hospital after a short
illness.
Captain Flannery, who
joined the force when it was organized in 1934, was 55 years
old. He lived at 2 East Layman avenue, Linthicum.
After 13 years on the
force, he was promoted to sergeant, and in 1954 became a
lieutenant. He was promoted to Captain last June.
Captain Flannery is
survived by his wife, Mrs Nadine Flannery, two sons and three
daughters. Funeral arrangements had not been completed...

conducted tomorrow for Elmer L. Flannery, 57, of 4921 Wilbur Ave; a
native Baltimorean and employe (sic) of the National Brewing Co since
1948. He died in Johns Hopkins Hospital Monday following a heart
attack. He is survived by his wife, Frances; three sons, John
W., 26; Elmer L, Jr and Lawrance (sic) J, 23; and a daughter, Mrs.
Patricia I. Krebs.
Services will be conducted
at the John A Moran funeral home...and a Requiem High Mass will be
said at St. John the Evangelist Church, Eager and Valley Sts.
Burial will be at Glen Haven Cemetery, Glen Burnie.
ALSO:
Elmer L. Flannery, 57, a
forklift operator at the National Brewing Company, died yesterday
after a short illness at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He lived at
4921 Wilbur Avenue.
Born in Baltimore, Mr
Flannery was a member of the Highland Lodge 176, L.O.O.M, and the
Pulaski Highway Democratic Club.
He is survived by his
wife, Mrs Frances Anderson Flannery; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia I.
Krebs of Arlington, VA; three sons, John, Elmer Jr, and Lawrence
Flannery; his mother, Mrs Mary Creighton Flannery, and three
grandchildren, all of Baltimore.

A
requiem high mass for Francis X. Flannery, who died Monday, will be
offered at 10am at he Shrine of the Sacred Heart Chruch, Smith Avenue,
Mount Washington. Burial will be in the New Cathedral
Cemetery.
Mr.
Flannery, 49, complained of a pain in his left shoulder after a
badminton game at the Gilman School gymnasium and went to an adjoining
room to lie down.
An
ambulance took him to Union Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced
dead. Mrs. Flannery was witih her husband at the time.
Mr.
Flannery was a native Baltimorean. He attended Loyola High
School and received his law degree from the University of
Baltimore.
He
began his business career as a stock broker and at the time of his
death was operating his own business, the Flannery Shopping Service.
He
was active in affairs of the Shrine of the Sacred Heart Church, where
he sang in the choir, was a member of the usher's association and of
the Holy Name Society. He held the fourth degree of the Knights
of Columbus.
Mr.
Flannery was on the boards of Villa Julie College and the Calvert Hall
Building Association.
He
is survived by his wife, Mrs W. Clare Heavey Flannery of 2501
Wetherburn road; a son, Dennis C. Flannery, and two daughters, Sharon
and Frances Flannery.
Also
surviving are three brothers, John Flannery of Alexandria, VA; and
Ambrose and Philip Flannery, of Los Angeles; and three sisters, Mrs.
Margaret F. Arnold of Orlando, Fla; Mrs. Joan Douglas of Los Angeles,
and Mrs. Agnes F. Cabot, of New York.
