Chapter 5

"Hello Taylor, may we come in?," Fran asked. So far, Taylor had been staring at Terry, not checking her out, just looking, as if he was trying to figure something out. New people always have intrigued him, Fran thought

"Oh, yes, come in. Excuse me, I'll be right back! I'll, uh, get my mom!," Taylor stammered, a little embarrassed.

He rushed off.

"He's real smooth, isn't he?," Terry whispered to Fran.

"He just tends to be a little nervous sometimes around 's," Fran replied, " You know. Wants to impress them but afraid of looking like an idiot."

"He does if he stammers all the time," Terry snorted.

"Terry, please, these people are trying to help you! Please, just don't give them a hard time! That's all I ask!," Fran begged.

"All right," Terry sighed.

"Mom, she's here!," Taylor said. He walked into his parents bedroom where his mother was changing his baby sister, Zoe.

"Oh, good! I'll be right there!," Diana said with a smile, " Here Taylor, will you take Zoe and go get your brothers?"

"Sure Mom," Taylor said, reaching for the baby. With that,Diana hurried out.

Taylor held Zoe up to eye level and made some silly faces, causing the baby to giggle. Then, holding his sister close, he walked into the garage.

"No, I'm goofy-funny! You're goofy-stupid!"

"I'm goofy-funny and you're goofy-stupid!"

Taylor groaned and rolled his eyes. Were they having this argument again? The 'stupid-funny goofy-stupid' argument continued.

"You're goofy-stupid!"

" You're goofy-stupid!'

"You're BOTH stupid!" Taylor interjected. That got his brothers attention. " She's here," Taylor continued, " Mom sent me to get you two."

"She's here? Cool! Here, let me take Zoe!," Zac said, eagerly reaching for the baby. He walked out, crooning to Zoe, " You're such a good baby, you're so cute, yes you are! One day all the guys will want to go out with you, I would too, but you're my sister!"

Taylor and Isaac grinned and shook their heads, then followed Zac into the living room.

" You'll meet Walker and the s tonight at the dinner table, since Walkers out with them to a movie," Diana was saying when Taylor and Isaac walked in, " and this is the oldest, Isaac. I hear you've already met Taylor."

The nodded, but didn't say anything. Isaac studied the . She was a little short for fifteen, just barely over five feet. He had a feeling she had done most of her growing. She was of average size, though a little overweight, but certainly nothing to gag at. Her clothes were almost simple, but pretty cool, in a pair of black, wide legged pants and a blue baby tee, and with sandals on her feet. He noticed that her toenails were painted, but no two looked alike. They were each a different color, though her fingernails were a glittery purple. Her blond hair, worn down, was past her shoulders with darker and lighter highlights and some of her hair was so wavy, it looked like she had used a curling iron, though he could tell it was natural. She had bright, blue eyes that lit up when she saw the baby, but he knew that they could turn icy, along with her moods, and he had a feeling that she didn't smile often. He really thought she was kinda pretty and there was something about her that Isaac found appealing.

"Boys, will you please help Terry bring her stuff in and show her around?," Diana said, interrupting Isaac's train of thought.

Terry looked back at Fran. This was it. If Fran wanted to, she could put her on a plane back to Colorado. But she doubted that she would. If only Fran would let her go back to Colorado. She wanted to go home, back to her dad. Once she left, Terry would be all alone with these strangers. They would ask why she was there, about her past. She would tell them, but they must never find out about her horrible secret, no matter what.
