Terry sat clutching her blanket, shivering form the horror of the dream. Eyes wide, sweat trickling down her face, she tried to push the memory of the dream away, but to no avail. The dream was still strong and fresh in her mind...
She was about eight or nine years old. It was a gorgeus spring day. She was runnimg through a beautiful garden, with beautiful flowers everywhere, tall green trees all around, a running brook not far from the stone walkway. Giggling, she stooped to pick a particuarly pretty flower when a movement caught her eye.
There was a figure watching her from the more shaded area of the garden. It seemed that she should be able to recognise that figure and walked closer for a better look. But with every step that took her closer, the figure seemed farther away then he was a moment ago. She didn't realize that she was heading into a dark forest, away from the safe garden, nor did she realize the way the sun, so bright and shining only a moment ago, was now blocked out by a dark, threatening cloud.
She was starting to become frustrated. She should be able to see this person by now, but she wasn't any closer to him now then she was when she first saw him. So she began to run. Maybe that would work. She could almost touch the person when he ran around a tree, but when she followed suit, he was gone! She was becoming uneasy. Maybe she should go back now. But when she turned to go the way she had come, she didn't see a way back. She turned in circles, but she was lost. Terrified, she began to call for help.
" Daddy!," She whimpered," Daddy! Help me!" She heard footsteps behind her. Maybe it was him. But before she could turn around to look, an arm snaked around her throat and jerked her backwards...
Terry shuddered. Looking at the clock, she saw that it was only 4:18, but there was no way she was going back to sleep. Maybe I'll feel better if I just watch some television or something, She thought.

" Hey! I'm supposed to be getting ahead of you! I'm the rollarblading expert!," Zac shouted after Felicia.
" I told you I was better then Mackie!," Felicia retorted. Minutes ago, Zac had teased her about about her being slow when she faltered a few times. She ignored him until he stated that his four year old brother could skate better and she had challenged him to a race. Much to his chagrin, he had tripped and it was her turn to tease him.
" Yeah yeah, I know. I should have believed you," Zac muttered.
" Hey, you didn't hurt yourself when you fell, did you?," Felicia asked, suddenly concerned.
" No, I'm fine. But thanks for asking." Man she looks pretty, he thought. Felicia frowned as she looked at her watch.
" Oops. I'd better get going. My mom's going into town and she wants me to go with her," Felicia rolled her eyes." Wanna do this again tomorrow? Same time same place?"
" Sure. I guess I'll see you tomorrow." Zac watched her for a minute as she skated off, then he turned around and went home. As he walked, he hummed some lyrics from River:
See we've had our highs and lows
We let our feelings flow into the sea
Because these feelings come and go
And if we let our feelings show
This river just might flow to you and me
