Visualization
With the mind now well under control, the magician is now
ready to direct his mental powers into direct manifestation.
The technique of visualization is simple and can be most
rewarding, provided the magician is patient and does not become
discouraged when his desires are not immediately realized.
Visualization requires not only mental control but great
determination.
The magician begins by deciding on an immediate goal.
This goal must be within his sphere of availability; this
is, it must not be something that falls within the realm of
the improbable, like becoming a millionaire overnight.
Let us say that the magician has a girlfriend he would
like to marry but who is not yet ready to take the final step
into matrimony. He decides he will work by visualization
to marry this girl. His first step is to procure a picture
of a wedding in which both bride and groom bear a slight
resemblance to him and his girlfriend. Under no circumstances
is he to use an actual photograph of either himself or his girlfriend in this
work. The picture must depict two total strangers and it
must be of an actual wedding ceremony. This picture is then
pasted on a large piece of paper and enclosed by four lines
drawn forming a perfect square. The magician then concentrates
on this picture, substituting the images of the real bride
and groom for mental pictures of himself and his girlfriend.
He imagines the whole ceremony taking place and sees himself
saying the marital vows. He does this every day at the same hour
for several weeks, maybe several months. In his mind the
marriage has already taken place and he is married to his
girlfriend. If the visualization is strong and the mind is well
ceontrolled the actual marriage will follow soon after.
Visualization can also be effective without material aids
like pictures. If the mind is particualrly strong it is often
enough to visualize an event mentally several times to have it come
true after some time. The thing to remember is that the
substance of the mind is plastic and it receives feelings
as well as mental images. One must therefore take care that
the feeling accompanying the mental projection is in accordance
with the actual hapening one desires to provoke. Feelings of
anxiety, doubt, and uncertainty will stop any manifestation from
taking place. There must be complete confidence on the part
of the magician that what he is visualization is one of the
first magical techniques mastered by the magician.
