Spock's Relatives:
- Ambassador Sarek (father) - Sarek died at the age of 102,538 in 2368 from the degenerative effects of Bendi Syndrome, which he was afflicted at the age of 202. Bendi Syndrome is a rare disease that affects Vulcans over the age of 200. The characteristic of this disease is a loss of emotional control. Once afflicted, the victim's behavior becomes erratic. They get sudden bursts of emotions and irrational anger. Because Vulcans are telepathic, this Syndrome has a dangerous side affect in that this loss of emotional control is telepathically projected to others. Sarek was hoping that Spock would attend the Vulcan Science Academy. but Spock decided to join Starfleet Academy instead. This caused a rift in Spock's relationship with his father that lasted 18 years. Sarek and Spock make peace, realizing they have a common bond that transcends their differences.
- Amanda Grayson (mother) - A schoolteacher from earth.
- Perrin (stepmother) - A human woman who was devoted to Sarek. She didn't want Sarek to know he was suffering from Bendi Syndrome. She had asked Captain Jean-Luc Picard (TNG) to mind-meld with Sarek. Picard's emotional strength gave Sarek the ability to conclude with the Legaran talks in 2366. Perrin stood by Sarek's side up until his death in 2368.
- Sybok (half brother) - Born in 2224 to Sarek and his wife, a Vulcan Princess. Sybok was totally different from Spock. He wasn't your typical Vulcan. He was a rebel and was ostracized because he rejected the Vulcan way of pure logic. He wanted to find a meaning in emotions, as well as logic. He believed in a place call "Sha Ka Ree" (earth's equivalent to paradise). He commandeered the Enterprise with a few followers in search of this paradise. Little did Sarek know that his vision was implanted by the entity imprisoned on this planet, who wanted to be free. The planet was found but the alien living there was no God. Sybok finally realizing the malevalence of this entity decided to battle it and died in the process in 2292.
- Skon - (grandfather). Sarek's father. No data available.
- Solkar - (great grandfather). Sarek's grandfather. No data available.
Spock's Friends:
- A Sehlat - Spock's pet, a Vulcan animal that looks like a teddy bear with six-inch fangs. Spock was very fond of his pet.
- Leonard H. McCoy - Also chief medical officer of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701A.
- James T. Kirk - Spock's best friend and Captain.
Women in Spock's life:
- T'Pring (Spock's betrothed -telepathically bonded) - When Spock reached the time of "Pon Farr" (a powerful mating drive), he had to return to Vulcan to marry T'Pring. T'Pring on the other hand did not want Spock. So she invoked a challenge called "Koon-ut kal-if-fee" and chose Captain Kirk as her champion forcing the two men (Spock and Kirk) to fight for her possession. T'Pring knew that by choosing Kirk as her champion this would cause Spock to release her because she dared to make the challenge and also knowing that if Kirk won, Kirk would not want her and so permitting her to chose Stonn as her consort. When asked by Spock why, she answered in her truthful and logical Vulcan way, "If your Captain were victor, he would not want me and so I would have Stonn. If you were victor, you would free me because I had dared to challenge, and again, I would have Stonn. But if you did not free me, it would be the same. For you would be gone and I would have your name and your property, and Stonn will still be there". You go girl. LOL
Listen to T'Pring's explanation.
- Leila Kalomi - Leila is a botanist and a member of a colony expedition that left earth in 2263. They settled on the planet Omicron Ceti III. In 2261 Spock met Leila on earth and she fell in love with him but she knew that that love could never be returned. He beams to the surface of Ceti III and there they renew their friendship. On the planet she leads Spock to a secluded section where a native plant sprays him with its spores, causing Spock to break down his inhibitions and declares his love for Leila and his desire to remain on the planet.
Note: Although Spock has control of his human side and keeps his emotions in check, there are times where he does behave uh "human"? Click here to hear one of his "human moments". I thought this was a wonderful moment between Spock and Kirk. Although brief, it showed the human side of Spock in a very sweet way. It occurred in the Episode "Amok Time" where Kirk had to battle Spock for T'Pring and was led to believe that he killed the Captain, until he returned to the ship and found otherwise.
