SETTING-UP THE PAIR
So, now that you have all of your items ready for breeding you want to get everything ready. Right? Well ok. I'm ready to show you step by step how to set-up your bettas breeding tank. It must be a homy atmosphere that your bettas will enjoy living in.
So without further addo, here it is...
The Early's and Before's: Before you even get ready to breed there are a few things you must do...
- you will need to condition your pair of bettas.
- set-up a microworm culture three weeks before you even attempt to breed bettas. If you don't you will end up with no food for your baby fry.
- make sure that your breeding tank has been cleaned very well with baking soda and salt. It also needs to be rinsed just as good.
- you need to have a PH in your water of very close to 7.0( see water requirements for more info).
- your water needs to be treated with Amquel and Novaqua before it is placed in your tank ( see water requirements for more info).
- add 3 drops of Maroxy per 5 gallons to prevent fungus from attacking the eggs.
Setting-Up The Tank:Now you need to set-up the tank. So here's the way I do it.
- after you fill the tank half way full, put in the kerosene lamp chimney. Put it right in the middle.
- now take the floating plant and tie a piece of string and tie one end to the plant, and one end to the top of the tank.
- tie a plant weight to the thick plant and then put it in a corner.
- now put the heater along the back wall at an angle.
- now put the sponge filter in the corner opposite corner of the thick plants.
