The Law of Order |
Preamble - - In accordance with The Creed, we the founding
members of the Champions of Order, do hereby declare this Law to hold supreme over the
members of the said guild, and to guide its members in the application of Justice,
enhancement of Truth, and support of the rightful Order of Norrath.
Article I
There shall be created three separate entities that shall govern the Laws of the
Champions of order. First, the members of the guild shall constitute a legislative body.
Second, The Council shall be installed as an executive body. Third, in possible instances
of misconduct, there shall be created a Council of Judges, whose number shall be
determined by The Council, and whose membership shall be determined by a vote of the body
as a whole.
Article II
Section I - - The members, being the voting body of the guild, shall be
responsible for the propositions of all additions, changes, or detractions of the Law. Any
member with the support of two or more members may put forth any proposition at any
scheduled meeting. A member will first put forth the motion, with a call immediately
afterwards for additional support. As soon as two additional members have approved of the
motion, there will be discussion of the subject. This motion will then be tabled until the
next scheduled meeting, where the guild as a whole shall vote. All votes, excepting those
specified otherwise, shall be acceptable by a simple majority. Thereafter, it will be
submitted to The Council.
Section II - - If any change to membership or an Amendment to the Law is
rejected by The Council, it will then be resubmitted to the body of the guild for a vote.
If in the results of that vote, four of five members support the change, the change shall
be implemented over the objections of The Council.
Section III - - The body of the guild shall, at certain times, be asked to add
membership to the guild. In all issues of new membership, this shall be done in the same
manner as any other change in the Law. If a former member wishes to be considered for
re-admittance to the guild, they may petition The Council to do so. Upon approval of The
Council, there will be a vote requiring aye votes of two-thirds of the members of the
general body.
Section IV - - The body of the guild shall, from time to time, be asked to vote
on such issues as council membership. This procedure will be initiated by The Council.
Section V - - When a Council of Judges has been called, the body of the guild
will vote upon the possible members that are submitted to them by The Council. Every
member will be able to vote for three of the submitted names. Those who receive the
highest number of votes shall be named to the Council of Judges.
Article III
Section I - - The Council will be made up of an odd number of members, not less
than 5. Any new members, or changes to The Council will be initiated and approved by the
currently sitting council before being submitted to the body of the guild as a whole. The
initial membership shall be as listed; Cacha, Lemual, VACANT,
Atheneza, and Cerdian. Members of The Council will be added as necessary.
Section II - - When dealing with issues concerning changes in the Law or initial
membership in the guild, The Council will hold a vote upon all issues that the body of the
guild submits to them. If a majority of the council vote aye, the issue will pass.
Section III - - When a former member petitions for re-admittance to the guild,
each member of The Council shall require a quest of the petitioner. This quest shall not
be one of personal gain for the council member, and shall be completed before The Council
will take further action upon their request. The Council will then hold a vote requiring a
unanimous affirmative response. The issue will then be submitted to the body of the guild
as a whole.
Section IV - - All members of The Council are members of the body of the guild
as a whole. They are also responsible to uphold and obey all Laws the same as all other
members.
Section V - - If it becomes necessary for a Council of Judges to be convened,
The Council will decide and vote upon the number of Judges necessary for the completion of
the trial. The Council will then submit a number of names that is at least two more than
the agreed upon number to the body of the guild to be voted upon.
Section VI - - All members of The Council are Officers of the Guild. Whoever is
present may be called upon to perform any already agreed upon action. These actions
include the adding of members, the removal of members, petitions for re-admittance, calls
for a Council of Judges, and items that need to be added to the agenda of the next
scheduled meeting.
Article IV
Section I - - If a Council of Judges is called for and voted into office, the
first order of business shall be a private vote amongst themselves that determines a Chief
Judge. That person shall organize and preside over the trial and all activities included.
Section II - - The Chief Judge shall schedule a time where all Judges and
persons involved in the situation can be present. If the defendant refuses to allow a time
for trial, they will be tried without their presence.
Section III - - After the trial, the Judges shall retire to an outside chat room
that is secured by a password. They shall then deliberate upon the charges and evidence at
hand. They will then hold a vote hinging upon guilt or innocence. This will then be
reported to The Council for action in accordance with the requirements that are written in
the law.
Section IV - - Upon completion of the trial, all Judges will be released of
their duties.
Article V
Section I - - All Specific Laws of the Champions of Order will be voted upon in
the initial meetings of the guild. They will be written and added as Amendments to the
Law. |
