KEN KOLB'S EXPERIENCE WITH TYR #3

"I do hereby swear...before God, that I will not use bad language, drink liquor, abuse my horse or quarrel or fight with any other riders..." said the Pony Express riders' code, more or less, and that last part, "will not quarrel or fight with any others," is interesting because it sums up how the stars of The Young Riders act toward each other

One Happy Family

Last month I told you about the good feelings that are all over the place on this set, and it's something I can't mention enough, so I hope you're not tired of hearing how the cast is all "one big happy family." It is true!
And not just among the stars, but their friends and families as well. Josh Brolin's wife, Alice, comes on the set from time to time and you could just see how much she and Josh care about each other and about their little toddler, Trevor.
All the guys in the cast are very close to their families and talk about them often. Travis Fine says his dream is to buy a ranch and horses and raise a family, and Yvonne Suhor comes from a family of 10 brothers and sisters!
When Don Franklin joined the cast as the new Pony Express rider, Noah, he was immediately taken into the family. In fact, his first days on the set, he had to learn how to ride horseback immediately. Ty Miller told me everyonw else had several weeks to learn to ride when the series was just beginning, and they all trained at a "cowboy camp" in the California hills.
Since Don had only four days to get with it, his castmates, Gregg, Josh, Ty, Stephen, and Yvonne really out of their way to help him out! It looks like everyone, Don included, did a good job, because he was riding with the rest of them when I was guesting on the show.
Besides being really good horsemen (and woman!) now, The Young Riders cast is really good with guns too. They've trained very efficiently with them, and were coached by an expert known as the fastest gun in the world.

A Great Stuntman

As far as the stunts go on the show, although the guys do some of the action themselves, they've got a great stuntman, who can dress up and look like anyone from the cast!
But, goodness, I'm out of room again so I'll tell you more about that next time. Seems I barely get going and it's time to stop. So, I'll see you guys again in the next issue of STARZ. I'm beginning to feel like a real STARZ reporter--that's nice!
